II. Introduction:
V. Objectives:
Zumba is one of the most fun and versatile fitness crazes to come along in a
long time. Classes can be geared for just about any fitness level. Though most
Zumba involves high-impact moves like bouncing and jumping, it can be modified
to meet your needs.
Origin:
Zumba was founded in 1998 by Pérez in Cali, Colombia. Pérez, an aerobics instructor,
forgot to bring his regular music to his aerobics class. He happened to have cassette
tapes of Latin dance music—salsa and merengue—and danced to them instead, which
Pérez later taught as "Rumbacize".[3][4] In 2001, Pérez partnered with Alberto
Perlman and Alberto Aghion, and the trio released a series of fitness videos sold
via infomercial.[5] Insight Venture Partners and the Raine Group made an investment
in 2012.[6][7] The company expanded into class instruction and by 2015, according to
Perlman, there were 14 million Zumba students in 186 countries. [8]
Though the word "zumba" has several meanings in e.g. Castilian and Latin American
Spanish,[9][10] it is stated by Zumba Fitness, LLC to be a neologism that was expressly
created as a brand name.[11] The original name was "Rumbacize", a combination
of rumba (a Spanish word for "party" and various dances) and Jazzercize
It’s fun. The more you enjoy your exercise routine, the more likely you are to
stick with it. Many people say they have so much fun dancing that they forget
they are actually exercising.
Tones your entire body. You may feel sore in places you never knew existed,
but it gets results. Zumba targets lots of different muscle groups at once
for total body toning.
Boosts your heart health. You not only get aerobic benefits (it really gets your
heart rate up), you also get anaerobic benefits – the kind that help you
maintain a good cardiovascular respiratory system.
Helps you de-stress. Turning your attention to dance, and away from the daily
grind, is a great way to relieve stress. Studies show that exercise is very
effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration,
and enhancing overall cognitive function.
Improves coordination. In Zumba, your arms and legs are generally moving in
different directions so it requires a good deal of coordination. Repeated practice
improves coordination and helps you feel more comfortable moving your body.
Makes you happy. Every time you exercise, you release endorphins, which
trigger positive feelings throughout the body.
Zumba is a total-body cardio and aerobic workout, which provides a large calorie
consumption. A study shows that a person burns 300 to 900kcal with an hour-long
Zumba exercise. So, if a person successfully burns 500 calories in each day's
workout, then he/she can lose one pound of weight in a week as one pound of fat
contains about 3500 calories.
Because Zumba offers different options, proponents of the Zumba program claim
that it is safe for all ages, meaning that anyone from age 0 to 100 can participate in
this form of aerobic exercise. Some of the classes are specifically aimed at elderly
people, to help them build strength, improve motion and posture, and socialize.
Besides its high calorie burning benefit, Zumba can help lower the risk of heart
disease, reduce blood pressure and bad cholesterol, and increase good cholesterol.
Activity :
Make you own routine of a zumba exercise. Capture a video in doing your routine
and send it to your PE teacher for the performance.
( Don’t forget to perform a Warm-up ( before) and Cooling down( After),part of your
video.
For me Zumba tones the entire body by targeting multiple muscle groups at once.
Improves the health of your heart. You get anaerobic benefits as well as aerobic
ones (it really gets your heart rate up), which help you maintain a healthy
cardiovascular and respiratory system. It assists you in de-stressing.
3) Relieves Stress.
4) Full-Body Workout.
