each letter there corresponds exactly one number. This is a special kind of
relation called Function.

Where else can you apply functions in a real life
scenario?
 Piecewise function or a compound function

• Is a function defined by multiple subfunction, where each subfunction

applies to a certain interval of the main function’s domain.
Example:

x2 - 2x + 1, if x > 1
a. f(x)= 2x - 2, if x ≤ 1
 Let’s observe the situation below.
• A store owner charges 155 pesos per t-shirt for orders of 50 or fewer T-
shirts, 150 pesos per T-shirt for orders of 75 or fewer but more than 50 T-
shirts, and 145 pesos per T-shirt for orders of more than 75 T-shirts.
• The situation above can be modelled by the piecewise function.
