The COVID-19 pandemic, as it continues to rise, has significantly disrupted every aspect of
human life, including education. The alarming spread of the virus dramatically changed the
educational system, forcing higher educational institutions to adopt a new normal mode of
learning (Dawadi, et al., 2020). Since online classes have been one of the available solutions to
pursue education amidst the pandemic, students' satisfaction has been crucial for a successful and
effective learning process. According to Keengwe, et al. (2012), students' satisfaction was most

may not contribute to satisfaction and preference of student. The Accountancy Business and
Management (ABM) strand, given the following subjects: Fundamental of Accountancy 1&2,
Partnership Accounting and Corporation 1&2, and Business Finance, uses Excel - one of the
most popular accounting tool. On top of that, ABM students also consider a great tool for content
creation and collaboration, which gives way to Microsoft Office, the most common tool shared
across devices, and WPS Office in their choices. Comparing WPS Office and Microsoft Word,
Finance Online (2021) examined the general scoring values and rated the software's overall
quality and performance. WPS Office got a 9.0 score, while Microsoft Word has a score of 8.5.
Likewise, comparing their general user satisfaction rating, WPS Office got 100%, and Microsoft
Word got 97% (Finance Online, 2021). Given the features each offers, it may or may not affect
the student's preference of choice. However, in view of the comparison, students' may still
choose the software that best addresses their most crucial needs, not the solution with the most
With that, the researchers aim to know the level of satisfaction and the preferred studying tool of
ABM students between Microsoft and WPS Office in online classes. Whether they are
influenced by the features both the software offers, the researchers seek to know which of the
two they were most satisfied with. This research study is beneficial to students in all strands,
especially in these times, given that they used software for documents, paper works, and reports.
In line with the Agenda 2030: The Sustainable Development, this study will help contribute to
