CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

The tourism and Hospitality industry is associated with the idea of people
traveling from one place to another while venturing out to different areas, either locally
or universally, for recreation, social, or business purposes. The tourism and hospitality
industry is one of the considerable executive players to the economy and significantly
promotes local culture, products, heritages by offering services such as accommodation,
activities, amenities, and accessibility to a destination or attraction. There are certain
factors as to why tourists are traveling, may it be for business and leisure activities that
can be able to do in a place or country.

Nevertheless, traveling to visit a famous or well-known tourist attraction is a form

of tourism activity. A tourist attraction is a place that draws visitors by providing
something of interest. The travelers and tourists go to a tourist attraction for experience,
to see for themselves or to know more about their history, and how it made well-known
to the tourist. There are different types of tourist attractions that relatively make tourists
visit the area that is natural, purpose-built, or man-made tourist attractions, sports, and
special events. (Stainton, 2019)

Ecotourism is one of the categories of tourism that attempts to minimize its

impact upon the environment, and avoids the negative impacts of many large-scale
tourism developments undertaken in the areas which have not previously been developed.
It fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation.
The Introduction is a key paragraph for both readers and writers—first impressions
matter. The reader will be more inclined to read a paper and consider a position if the
initial paragraph is clear, organized, and engaging. A carefully crafted first paragraph acts
as a springboard for the writer, establishing the order and direction for the entire paper.
The form and content of an introduction depend upon many factors, including the
specifics of the assignment, the intended audience, the style of the discipline, and your
professor's expectations. In general, your Introduction should capture the reader's
attention and provide essential context for your topic.

In the succeeding paragraphs, there should be no indentations, and paragraphs are

justified with left alignment. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your
Introduction.

Background of the Study

The Tourism Industry is constantly changing its strategies to pave the way for
sustaining and redeveloping most natural or eco-tourism tourist attractions. The Ninoy
Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center (NAPWC) traces its beginning as a portion of the
197.8 hectares Quezon Memorial Park covered under Proclamation No. 42 dated July 5,
1954. With the issuance of Proclamations Nos. 481 and 616 respectively, the park’s area
was reduced 64. 58 hectares. The larger areas allocated for Philippine Science High
School and the National Government Center, which was later subdivided and developed
as the areas occupied by the Central Bank of the Philippines, Lung Center, Kidney
Center, and Lungsod ng Kabataan.

According to The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), ecotourism can be

define as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserve the environment, sustains the
well-being of the local people and involves interpretation and education." Ecotourism
activities are usually nature-related, and thus, the NAPWC's primary objective is to
preserve and maintain the natural tourist attraction and make it an eco-friendly site that
focuses on the development of the park and wildlife.

The Background presents the 'big picture,' identifying the context of the problem to be
investigated. It sets the stage for the relevance and purpose of the study. The Background
serves to underscore why your study should be done in the context of previous studies. It
uncovers a problem or issue where further research is required. It expands on the
statement, "While studies have shown . . . there is a need to . . ." The background section
– and more broadly, the whole of your study – is guided by the purpose of your research,
identifying what you, the researcher, hope to discover.

In the succeeding paragraphs, there should be no indentations, and paragraphs are

justified with left alignment. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your
Background of the study.

these questions:

• Elaborate on how the research will be of importance and how it will help
improve practice. Who will it help, and how? Will it provide a stepping-stone
for others to go further?

• What benefits would occur if definitive answers were found to the research
question?

The number of specific objectives should be enough to cover the whole study. The
importance of the study is enumerated starting with number one (1).

Wildlife Center. It is based on the visitors respondents of the attraction. There was a total
of one hundred (100) respondents to this study.

The researchers time frame carried out various activities that included major phases of
the study, formulating a thesis proposal for the month of September
; acceptance of thesis proposal in October; data collection in the month of November;
presentation, analysis, interpretation of data in the month of December and final defense
for the month of January. THE SCOPE OF A STUDY EXPLAINS HOW THE
RESEARCH AREA WILL BE EXPLORED AND SPECIFIES THE
PARAMETERS WITHIN WHICH THE STUDY WILL BE OPERATING.
LIMITATIONS IDENTIFY POTENTIAL WEAKNESSES OF THE STUDY FROM
SOURCES THAT ARE OUTSIDE OF THE CONTROL OF THE RESEARCHER.
LIMITATIONS ARE RESTRICTIONS ON THE EXTENT OR TYPE OF
AVAILABLE DATA. LIMITATIONS MAY ALSO RESTRICT THE
GENERALIZABILITY OF FINDINGS.
