CASE STUDY
1. Drawing from the principles of comprehensive assessment and your knowledge of functional,
physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and spiritual assessment of older adults, what are the
areas of assessment that you think should be explored first with Mr. and Mrs. Monday?
For me, the area of social assessment must be explored first with Mr. and Mrs. Monday. The
first step is to conduct a social assessment before proceeding with the rest of the steps, the functional,
physical, cognitive, psychological, and spiritual. As I'd want to know how the patient would
communicate, respond, and engage in conversation. Once I know how the patient socialize with me then
I'll now know what to look for and how to conduct my assessment. There should also be proper give and
take during the assessment to enhance two-way conversation. Thereby, having a formal evaluation
process for post-interview evaluation will aid in assessing and minimizing partiality as well as the effect
of other personal traits. A better social assessment or interview method will include a specific set of
steps to be followed before, during, and after the interview with the patients. Also, this could help you
to establish trust and rapport to your patient for better flow of communication.

2. Will you be relying on the self-report, proxy report, performance measure, or all of these for the
assessment?
I will rely on all the stated information/reports and measurements for assessment since each
part of this is relevant. The self is perhaps the only individual who has direct access to mental events and
some behavior on the self-report. Hence, the self is the ideal person to report on these variables.
Considering self-report might jeopardize measurement's reliability and validity, it is critical to evaluate
how questions may affect replies to follow up questions. Moreover, if asking about contentious or
possibly humiliating facts, it is necessary or more suitable to ask less difficult questions first so that
individuals will feel at ease and are thus more likely to offer honest answers to more tough questions.
The proxy report is done with someone who is knowledgeable with the individual's financial, health, and
familial status. Some individuals, like Mr. Monday, are unable to complete an interview due to physical
or cognitive impairments, or they are reluctant to engage. Concerns have been raised regarding the
proxy respondent's capacity to furnish right information. In terms of functional capacity, proxy
responses were shown to be more trustworthy for personal care tasks than for instrumental daily living
activities. In terms of performance assessment, this provides for the monitoring of decision-making
processes such as strategic planning and quality management in the provision of social care for the
aged. Take in mind that you should never leave patients in the dark regarding the following stages
because this might worsen their conditions. Furthermore, inform them of the expected outcome date as
well as any further procedures and answers to their questions in mind that you might have missed to
discuss.

3. Mrs. Monday seems to want to dominate the interview. How will this affect the assessment
process?
This can have a greater impact on the assessment process because less data will be obtained.
There are differences of opinion inside the organization. One cannot just select the participant based on
his or her own preferences, dislikes, and personal prejudices, and in this case study, the dominant or
only one interested. Also, just because an interview went poorly does not imply that the data is bad.
Mrs. Monday may be biased in ways unrelated to the interview topic. She may have a proclivity to
engage or avoid aggressive answers, or she may have a proclivity to agree with assertions. Mrs.
Monday's workload can be lessened by asking her to select one response from a list. To eliminate
prejudices, measures containing items keyed in various directions might be used, such that agreeing
with certain things reduces the overall score. Not only was it necessary to investigate the extent of
information loss that might result from having one respondent provide information about all members
of a household, but it was also necessary to investigate what kinds of biased reporting or random loss
could be reduced by talking to their son where this can help Mr. Monday to his case.

4. Which other health professionals do you think should be involved directly or in consultation
concerning your assessment?
Other professionals that should be involved are the psychologist who are trained to utilize
psychological exams to aid in evaluation and diagnosis and psychologists who uses a range of treatments
or psychotherapies to assist people in overcoming or managing their issues also, who is specialize in
mental health and disordered thinking. They can help Mr. Monday to overcome any problems that he
cannot solve by himself. Moreover, to be able to help Mrs. Monday to bring back the old Mr. Monday
where  he was always socially engaging and a man who could speak on several subjects.
