CHAPTER VI

SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT

CONTRIBUTION TO THE PHILIPPINE ECONOMY

As we conduct our feasibility studies, we discover that stingless bees have had

a significant positive impact on our economy. As evidenced by the literature, it is

critical to support bee populations, and forming a beekeeping cooperative is one way

to do so. We conducted research to gauge interest in the development of a beekeeping

cooperative and to identify potential benefits and obstacles. I learned that there are

considerable benefits to having a cooperative through conducting interviews with

beekeepers, farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural groups. However, there are

considerable challenges that could hinder the cooperative from succeeding.

EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

Many people, especially those who are just sitting at home doing nothing, can

be given employment and make money, especially because the salary is high here

because they only get bees twice a year. It is strongly suggested that the interests of

local farmers and beekeepers be considered more thoroughly than they are in this

report. It is strongly suggested that the interests of local farmers and beekeepers be

considered more thoroughly than they are in this report. This survey could reveal

whether there is sufficient local interest to launch a sustainable cooperative. Because a

drop in beekeeper excitement appears to be the main challenge facing a beekeeping

cooperative, interest levels are crucial in its implementation.

SOCIAL DESIRABILITY

The main goal of this study is to see if a beekeeping cooperative could work in

the Tayabas City region by polling local beekeepers and farmers for interest and

looking at the structure and formation of current beekeeping cooperatives. The

cooperative's major aim would be to match beekeepers with farmers in order to use

the farmers' land for hive placement and to share resources. The cooperative's major

hive placement and to share equipment and information among members.
