government

● Seek opportunities to expand UNICOR globally in other federal prison systems that could
benefit from UNICOR’s services and structure.

Summary

● The UNICOR organizational structure is composed as a government corporation under the Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (FPI) with jurisdiction of all
federal correctional institutes. The FPI operate 6 key business segments including Agriculture, Industry, Retails & Consumers, Labor, DOJ, and Defense.

● UNICOR’s primary goal, headed by Michael Carvajal, is to protect society and reduce crime by preparing inmates with job training and practical work skills for
reentry success.

● The environmental analysis for the UNICOR highlights the key impacts, including threats, Bargaining Power of Buyers, Bargaining Power of Suppliers,
Substitute Products, and Rivals.

● A SWOT analysis of the UNICOR evaluates the organization's strengths and weaknesses, potential opportunities, and threats.

● The competitive advantage of UNICOR’s labor forces helps them to achieve their goal of preparing inmates with job training and practical work skills for reentry
success with so many willing employees.

● UNICOR should expand and go global into Thailand by partnering with the Thailand’s government and prison industry. The economic, cultural, and political
relationship between the United States and Thailand are conducive to operating UNICOR.

● To further UNICOR’s growth and expansion it is recommended that the UNICOR increase its marketing, go global, increase employee training, and utilize its
competitive advantage of labor force.
