Job Description
Recruiting immediately for a Network Transmission Engineer, to work on a 3 month contract
basis, with our client Relish (UK Broadband) based in Central London.

CONTEXT

As a Network Transmission Engineer, you will be responsible for Designing and Planning
Microwave Transmission Networks, Wireless and Wired, to meet the business requirements in
line with Transmission Design Guidelines. To Support Site Build Programme Activities - MSV,
LOS Survey, LTE Transmission Backhaul Planning and Design. Responsible for planning
Transmission links and networks (Fibre and Microwave), including supporting vendor selection
and product introduction. You will also ensure proactive Optimization of Transmission Network
at Access and Core TX Network.
RESPONSIBILITIES

 Design and Planning for the Transmission Networks, wired (Fibre) and wireless (PtP and
PtmP)
 Support Site Build Programme Activities by performing MSV, approve site drawings,
reconcile nominated/candidate sites within TX Planning Tools and maintain a good TX
records for Site Build Programme
 Fibre LL Request and Design Approval for LTE and Hub Sites
 Peform Pre-MSV activities - Site details reconciliation in Planning Tool
 Support Vendor and product selection tasks for Transmission technologies, including
requirements definition, testing and acceptance.
 Transmission Design and Planning for a MNO network as well as for specific B2B
customer requirements.
 Support Enterprise TX Requirement; Bid Process and other Proposition activities.
 Transmission Logistic Management (Purchase Requisition and Order)
 Perform IPDCN Design for the MW Network when needed
 Produce HLD and LLD for Access, Aggregation and Backbone transmission network
 Transmission Backhaul Plans, HLD and LLD for LTE network
 HLD and LLD for the transmission aspects of non-LTE Network (Enterprise and others)
 I&C packs for link installations
 Network Transmission Capacity Management and Optimization
 OFCOM requests for spectrum licences
 Weekly transmission network utilisation and Site Build Programme reports

SKILLS

 Experience in large scale network engineering roles essential, preferably to have been
within a mobile network environment.
 Experience of Microwave Link Budgets and Spectrum Management
 Multi-vendor skill set in all areas of systems and networking.
 In depth knowledge of Transmission networks, especially Ethernet and IP/MPLS
technologies.
 Using Transmission Network Design & Planning tools such as Mentum Ellipse
 Able to analyse IP Backbone networks capacity based on (IGP and BGP protocols, L3
VPNs, and etc.)
 Commercial awareness, appreciates the importance of revenue achievement, margin
control and ROI whilst maintaining excellence.
 Knowledge of industry best practise for Transmission Networks.
 Effective management of own workload and that of a virtual team.

NICE TO HAVE

 Experience with wireless technology


 Experience of 3G & 4G networks
 Working knowledge of Ethernet, IP/MPLS, VPN and BGP
 Working knowledge of Ethernet Standard(VLAN, ERPS, LAG) and Ethernet Service
Types(E-Line and E-LAN)
 Previous Experience Providing Transmission Solution for Site Build Programme

 Team player. Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building cross-department


relationships.
 People management of virtual teams.
 Strong relationship builder with capability to influence others outside of the direct line
management structure.
 Enthusiastic, hard working and committed.
