Week 1
Do you remember the saying "prevention is better than cure"? Yes, it is correct. This saying
will serve as a reminder that we must find a solution before the problem occurs, because being
proactive is better to being diligent.
In connection with the crisis that we are experiencing today, we need to be reminded on
how to follow the safety protocols in order to avoid being infected and prevent the spread of
COVID-19 in our community.
In that way, the number of cases in our locality will continue to be reduced and we will be able
to defeat the spreading of the virus.
With the development of the first-degree program in electronic sports (esports) in the
country, based on the report, online gaming may no longer be an after-school hobby in the future.
The Lyceum of Philippine University has collaborated with Tier One Entertainment and E-sports
to establish the curriculum for the four-year degree in Bachelor of Science in E-Sports.
As a statement from Tier One Entertainment, they will be passing a curriculum to the
Commission on Higher Education in March. Once it is approved by the Commission on Higher
Education, it will be offered in the coming school year 2020 as a full-course.
The new degree program will have two tracks, which are game development and esports
management, as stated by Tryke Gutierrez, Chief Executive Officer of the gaming agency. He
added that if the curriculum is approved, it will be a great opportunity for all gamers, especially
Asian gamers, and we will have a new generation of graduates ready to work in the esports
industry.
