JOB DESCRIPTION
The job duties of hemodialysis nurses are especially suited to kidney dialysis treatment.
Kidney Dialysis treatment is performed on the patient by removing harmful waste from the
bloodstream when the patient kidney’s cannot perform this function. After the operation has
been performed, Hemodialysis Nurse’s monitored the balance of fluid for their patient as well
as educates and cares for them daily.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Demonstrate skills necessary to successfully initiate, monitor and discontinue
hemodialysis and dialysis related treatment
 Continuously monitor patient’s condition and appropriate vital parameters
before, during and after dialysis
 Conduct health teaching and provide guidance to patients while under dialysis
 Responsible for all dialysis equipment that they are safe, complete and fully
operational before, during and after use
 Ensure the confidentiality of information regarding patients
 Responsible for the safety of the patients while on dialysis
 Responsible for all data concerning patient are accurately documented and
recorded
 Coordinate and communicate with other members of the health team who may
be responsible for specific aspects of the patients care
 Orient new staff and patients to the dialysis center
 Ensure that the control of infection has been being practice at all times
 Conduct health teaching and provide guidance to patients while under dialysis
 Ability to perform multiple tasks without any assistance
 Possess good ability to create helpful and caring environment for patients
 Directing medications as advised by physicians
 Observing and reviewing critical signs of dialysis patients
 Great capability to respond patient’s queries related to dialysis
