How to choose your research methodology

First we have to understand the different research methods and there are two general
approaches to collecting data quantitative and qualitative research. I will explain in detail the two
approaches in collecting data, the first is quantitative research the data collected in this type of
research is typically expressed in numbers and graphs to confirm theories and assumptions.
The information gathered is true and accurate. The quantitative research method allows for the
collection of factual information in a variety of ways, including surveys, experiments, content
analysis, observation and existing data. And the second one qualitative research, this method is
used to understand thoughts, concepts, or experiences of people via interviews, focus groups,
case studies, discourse analysis, and literature review. It is basically a survey done to gather
people thoughts and experience. Second, we must understand when to conduct qualitative
versus quantitative research. If you want to confirm or test a theory or hypothesis, quantitative
analysis is the way to go. If you want to understand something, such as concepts, thoughts, or
experiences, qualitative research is preferable.

Third analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. Once you have obtained data for example
using the quantitative method, you can use statistical analysis to discover patterns or
commonalities in the data. Graphs and tables can be used to present the findings. And in
qualitative data. Remember that our goal is not simply to describe our methods, but to
demonstrate how and why we used them, as well as to demonstrate that our research was
rigorously conducted. We should be able to persuade the reader as to why we chose either a
qualitative or quantitative method or how it will help us achieve our goal. To answer the
research question and the problem statement, the approach must be clear. Throughout the
section, always relate the choices to the main purpose of our research.
What are the independent and dependent variables?
The independent variable is the variable the experimenter manipulates or changes, and is
assumed to have a direct effect on the dependent variable. While the variable that is dependent
It is something that is affected by other factors. A test score, for example, could be a dependent
variable because it can vary depending on factors such as how much you studied, how much
sleep you got the night before the test, or even how hungry you were when you took it. When
looking for a relationship between two things, you're usually trying to figure out what causes the
dependent variable to change the way it does.
What are the most common data analysis methods used in applied research?
This research approach frequently employs empirical methods to solve practical problems.
Because of its direct approach to finding a solution to a problem, applied research is sometimes
considered a non-systematic inquiry. It is typically a follow-up research design that investigates
the findings of pure or basic research further in order to validate these findings and apply them
to the development of innovative solutions.
