CALORIES MUST BE INCLUDED IN RESTAURANT MENUS – SNEHA PARIDA

Fast food is a meal which is kept ready and is served to the customer in a matter of minutes, thus
reducing waiting time All the fast-food chains use a mass-produced frozen, pre heated or pre-cooked
singredients to prepare their food but take a great pain to explain everything they use is freshly and
assembled to order. But these food items are high in saturated fat, sugar, salt, and calories which are
all harmful to the human body when consumed beyond a certain limit.

The fast-food chains have to face constant criticism because of the health hazards caused by
consuming calorie rich food

Now here comes the main question, should restaurants display calorie counts on the menu?

YES, THEY SHOULD

This is because calorie count can give an opportunity to consumers to keep track and limits their
calorie intake accurately to the average range which is 1800-per day diet. Our body needs calories
for ENERGY USED daily life purposes. But eating too many calories and not burning enough of them
can caused weight gain or obesity.

Based on the classification of the world health organization The prevalence of overweight and
obesity among adults which is 18 years old and above were 30% and 17% respectively in the year of
2015.

Obesity will lead to serious and potentially life-threatening conditions such as Cardiovascular
disease, Diabetes, strokes, and gall stones.

This problem happened because of the food consuming behaviour of individual.

Honestly, most people like to eat fast foods such as pizza, French fries, Burger and so on.

Most customers do know about the calorie counts and by applying calorie counts, we will be
convenience to know how many calories are present in our food.

Restaurants displaying calorie counts can build trust among customers. By providing calorie on
menus which means we can show the level of transparency in the restaurant. So, it can make those
who are concerned on calorie counts more likely and returns to loyal customer. Displaying calories
counts can make consumers be more aware from how much calories they are consuming every day.

For instances calorie count can guide the consumer on the calorie content of what they are eating, it
will help to keep consumers better informed about healthy options when buying fast foods. Besides
calories count in restaurant can aid in preventing and reducing the risk of obesity.

Calories must be included in restaurant menus to gain their consumers trust and loyalty and help
them living in a healthy lifestyle
