Dear Parents and Guardians,

The school year is off and running! It’s hard to believe how fast September has gone. I just wanted
to quickly introduce myself to those that are new to the school this year. My name is Allison Durazzani
and I am the school counselor here at Wellsville Elementary. I get to work with students through
individual counseling, small group counseling, and classroom lessons. You can reach me at the school at
435-245-3764 or by email, allison.durazzani@ccsdut.org.

I will sent home a little newsletter each month, just letting you know what we will be learning about
during my visits to each class. I’m here to support the students at school and work to create an inviting
learning environment for all. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

During the month of September, our focus during my lessons has been kindness. We read “Have you
Filled a Bucket Today” in each class and discussed ways students can spread kindness at school. The
students came up with great ideas, such as inviting others to play with them, standing up for someone,
sharing and lots of other amazing ideas.

I’ve attached a list of acts of kindness, from Big Life Journal, that you can use at home with your
kiddos. Taking time to cultivate kindness both at home and school helps create a better community for
everyone.

October is Bully Prevention month, so my lessons throughout October will discuss how to recognize
different types of bullying and explain how we can all be “upstanders” and stand up for those in need.
Watch for more information to come about this in my next newsletter home.

Let me know if you ever have questions or concerns!
