In England, children usually start school when they are five years old. Sometimes children
who are three or four years old go to playschool. At these schools children learn to draw and
sing songs and play games, but they don’t start reading, writing or doing maths. Children go
to junior school from the age of five to eleven. When they are eleven or twelve they go to
secondary school.
Schools usually start at nine o’clock in the morning. At eleven o’clock, the children go
outside and play. Then they go to class again. Lunch-time is usually at half past twelve.
Lessons start again at two o’clock and they finish at half past three.
