TERMITES (White Ants) are medium sized soft bodied, social insects living in
large, colonies. They travel through network of galleries made up of mud to
avoid light. Termites damage valuable human belongings like wood, building
material, transmission poles, trees, stored grains, paper books, railway sleepers
and ships etc.,

Termites make the wooden structures hollow and week as they feed on the
wood fiber and cellulose. Termites rarely come out on the surface; hence the
termite damage remains unnoticed until it is too late.

The movement of termites shows a particular pattern. The principle of termite
control is based on the simple method of stopping this movement. Therefore
placing a chemical barrier like

 between the food
and the nest is the most effective method of termite control. Apply

in and around the building structure as per the
specification.

Chlorpyriphos is proved to be the only safe chemical for termite control.

contains a safe and most widely used
Organophosphorous Termiticide compound around the world.

yp It is recommended by Central Insecticide Board for the control of termites.

yp It gets strongly absorbed on soil particles and when used in pre or post
construction treatment as it is not exposed and deteriorate by UV rays and
sunlight. These two factors contribute to long persistent action.
yp It remains strongly bonded to wood, paper and paint surface.
yp CBRI- Rookie has recommended 1% A.I. concentration for effective post
construction treatment.
yp Indian Plywood Industries research Institute; Bangalore found 1% A.I.
concentration in glue mix to prevent insect attack in plywood boards.
yp U.S National Forest Service found that Chlorpyriphos remains effective for
more than 18 years.
yp When used at recommended concentration Chlorpyriphos 20% EC does not
pose any danger to human, pets, indoor plants, carpets and furnishings.

The Chlorpyriphos 20% EC Emulsion in water should be applied at the
following stages as preconstruction treatment.

yp In foundation pits to treat the bottom and sides to a height of about 30 cms.
at the rate of 5 Liter / square meter.
yp .5 Liter per linear meter in the refill earth on both sides of all built up walls
(Approximate width 30 cms. And depth 45 cms)
yp Before laying the floor the top surface of the consolidated earth within the
plinth wall at the rate of 5 Liters/square meter.

After the building is completed the earth along the external perimeters of
building at .5 per square meter of vertical surface. (Approximate width 30
cms. And depth 45 cms)

c
After careful examination of Building structure, holes should be drilled in the
floor slab 30 cms apart and 1cm depth and flooded with CHLORYPYRIPHOS 20%
EC solution.
All possible entry points such as junctions of floor and walls, ‰oor Frames,
Sewage Lines Entrance should be spot treated with CHLORPYRIPHOS 20% EC
by drilling holes of spraying.

 Unspecific headache, ‰izziness, Weakness,
Perspiration, Vomiting & Tightness in Chest.

ccIf swallowed induce vomiting only if person is

conscious. Evacuate stomach contact by gastric cleavage. In case of Skin
Contamination, wash contaminated area thoroughly with soap and plenty of
water. Give artificial respiration if breathing weakens.
