Member Requirements
● 6 hours a semester for non-inducted members (8
for inducted)
○ Minimum I hour from service socials
○ Maximum 2 hours from donations
● Missed fall hours can be made up in the spring 1. Maximum 1
semester, but you have to make up twice as many unexcused absence
hours if you fail to complete on time. per year
● Attendance at monthly meetings (FIRST Monday 2. 85 or above in regular
of every month) English class/80 or
○ A note to those with science labs on Mondays: above in honors
we are working on accommodating your English class

Demerits
Offenses Worthy of Removal:
o More than three
demerits
o Discipline referrals
You will receive a demerit for: o Failing an English class
● Failing to pay dues on time at the end of the
● Failing to complete hours on time semester
● Having a 80 or below in AAC/AP English class
or an 85 or below in a regular English class at
the end of the semester
● Not communicating an absence 24 hours in
advance

3 demerits are permitted per semester

● Boulevard Short Fiction Contest for Emerging Writers: Deadline is


December 31, 2021.
● The Bennington Young Writers Award: Deadline to submit is
November 1st. Winners will be announced mid-April!
● Prime Magazine 53-word story contest. Available every month.
● Scholastic Art & Writing Awards: Due: December 2021
● Nancy Thorp Poetry Contest: Due October 31
● Profile in Courage Essay Contest: Due January 14, 2022
● Submit a 3-5 minute video of you reading a
picture book to earn 1 hour.
○ This collection of videos will be sent to
elementary school students and Dulles

Read A Book,
High School Special Education.
○ Positive Attitude, Enthusiastic Reading

● This will be published on Dulles NEHS’s Main
YouTube Channel.
● Upload to your Google Drive, and send us a

● We will award hours based on quality and
length.

English Tutorials
Members will have the opportunity to help other students in English.
We are also looking to get involved in EOC tutorials. More info to
come later!

College Essays
Seniors, you can submit your college essays to us for hours! You can
earn up to 2 hours for each essay.

Service Social:
● Today we will be decorating bookmarks!
● The younique foundation aims to aid adults
who have experienced traumatic events at or
before the age of 18 through their Haven
Retreat
● Individuals are given a book along with a
bookmark upon entering the retreat
● Please be considerate and do not include
anything inappropriate such as offensive
phrases or sensitive topics such as religion
● You can use any medium or style to decorate
the bookmarks; feel to write kind messages,
short poems, quotes, drawings & doodles, etc.
