MAKE USE OF BUYING
HANDED-DOWN THINGS
RATIONALE
Majority of us go to the usual store we visit to

buy things that we need without considering

looking for preloved or surplus stores. Buying

handed-down things not only saves your money

but at the same time our environment benefits

from it. Before a brand new item is available it

undergoes several processes like

manufacturing, packaging, and transportation

that in some ways affect our environment.

Considering all handed-down things ended up

being trash.
GO EAT AND PLANT
RATIONALE
When buying leafy vegetables like Camote Tops

(Talbos ng Kamote), Jules Leaves (Saluyot), and

Malabar Spinach (Alugbati), we usually separate

their stem and leaves, and just throw away the

stems. Instead of throwing them away you could

use it to grow your own food, this helps you

save money and at the same time our

environment. Planting your own food reduces

the use of chemicals and pesticides that pollute

our environment. And also when we are buying

in the market we should consider the

transportation of these vegetables that in some

way affect our environment.

PUBLIC MARKETS AND
COMMUNITY BASED FOOD SYSTEM
RATIONALE
As a point of definition, a “food system” generally

includes production, processing, distribution, and

consumption of food – in short, everything from farm to

table. Community-based food systems tend to stress

eating seasonal, locally-grown and produced foods.

Today, many Filipinos consumers’ only connection to

community-based food systems is through their local

farmers market. There are a number of issues local

food system advocates usually address, including:

hunger prevention, access to food, nutrition and

consumer education, environmental conservation.

BUY FAIR-TRADE PRODUCTS
RATIONALE
Look for the fair-trade certification when

buying products imported from all over the

world. This label indicates that these

products were grown using environmentally

friendly farming practices and that local

people are paid fairly for the goods they

make. I want to push this because every

time you buy a Fairtrade product, you are

supporting farmers, workers, and

communities in some of the world's poorest

countries.

FREE TUTORIALS FOR
READING AND WRITING
RATIONALE
Reading and writing are the basic and

most important skills that children need

to learn. Children who know how to read

and write and more often practice their

skills in reading and writing are able to

become a good speaker and a listener.

Reading and writing builds them to be a

better person and enables them to

perform their duties and responsibilities

as a member of their family and the

community.
Thank you for listening!
