Grade 3 1st Quarter
 describe different objects base on their characteristics (e.g., Shape. Weight,
Volume, Ease of flow)
 classify objects and materials as solid, liquid, and gas based on some
observable characteristics;
 describe ways on the proper use and handling solid, liquid and gas found at
home and in school; and
 describe changes in materials based on the effect of temperature:

2nd Quarter
 describe the parts and functions of the sense organs of the human body;
 enumerate healthful habits to protect the sense organs;
 describe animals in their immediate surroundings;
 identify the parts and functions of animals;
 classify animals according to body parts and use;
 state the importance of animals to humans;
 describe ways of proper handling of animals;
 describe the parts of different kinds of plants;
 state the importance of plants to humans;
 describe ways of caring and proper handling of plants;
 compare living with nonliving things;
 infer that living things reproduce;
 identify observable characteristics that are passed on from parents to
offspring (e.g., humans, animals, plants);
 identify the basic needs of human’s plants and animals such as air, food,
water, and shelter;
 explain how living things depend on the environment to meet their basic
needs; and
 recognize that there is a need to protect and conserve the environment.
3RD Quarter
 describe the position of a person or an object in relation to a reference
point such as chair, door, another person;
 identify things that can make objects move such as people, water, wind,
magnets;
 describe the movements of objects such as fast/slow, forward/backward,
stretching/compressing;
 describe sources of light and sound, heat and electricity; and
 enumerate uses of light, sound, heat and electricity.

4 Quarter
 describe the things found in the surroundings;
 relate the importance of surroundings to people and other living things;
 describe the changes in the weather over a period of time;
 communicate how different types of weather affect activities in the
community; and
 enumerate and practice safety and precautionary measures in dealing
with different types of weather.
 describe the natural objects that are found in the sky during daytime and
nighttime
 communicate how the natural objects in the sky affect daily activities
 enumerate safety measures to avoid the harmful effects of the Sun’s heat
and light
