Research Chapter 1-1
This chapter presents the background and purpose of the study, theoretical and
researchers are challenged to study facts about the effect of pandemic in every
continents. It affects more people and takes more lives than epidemic. There are more
than 10 of the worst pandemic in History and one of the deadliest pandemic of the
modern age is Influenza or the H1N1 influenza known as the Spanish flu. The estimates
of mortality ranging from 17 million to 100 million from estimated 500 million infections
globally. The most recent pandemic is the Corona virus disease (COVID-19) in the year
of 2019-present.
Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus2 (SARS – CoV2). The novel virus was first
identified in Wuhan China in December 2019. A lockdown in Wuhan and other cities
failed to contain the outbreak, and its spread around the world. Since 2021, variants of
the virus have emerged and become dominant in many countries with the Delta, Alpha,
and Beta variants being the most virulent. As of 16 September 2021, more than 226
million cases and 4.66 million deaths have been confirmed, making it one of the

the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without
requiring special treatment. However, there are seriously ill people who need medical
attention. The virus can spread from an infected persons mouth, or nose in small liquid
particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breath. There are many symptoms in
this virus and the most common are flu-like symptoms such as fever, dry cough, and
shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, headache, and sore
throat. Symptoms typically appear within 2 days to 14 days after exposure. When these
symptoms appear within these days you need to consult the nearest medical clinic.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 we need to follow the Health Protocols such
as maintain a safe distance from others, wear face masks in public, clean your hands

businesses like, beauty salons, laundry shops, convenience stores, fast food chains,

is the effective way to survive in this pandemic that really shut us down.
This research wants to help and inspire people that there’s a way to provide, to
survive, or meet the daily expenses using creativity and resourcefulness at the comfort
of their home. We can all survive in this pandemic through helping each other. In any
kind that is useful. We need to trust ourselves that there is nothing impossible in this
pandemic to survive, if we will follow the rules and regulations, obey the safety
protocols. Being a student, this research is important to us so that we can contribute our
livelihood.
Theoretical Framework
This research was based on the study of Keynes. It is also known as Keynesian
Economic Theory. John Keynes was the one who came up with the idea that in times of
unemployment, this economist and his school maintained that government involvement
increasing government spending. In addition this definition built upon Chambers and
Conway’s earlier definition and the subsequent work of Rennie and Singh (1996) and
A livelihood consists of the capabilities, assets (including both material and social
resources) and activities required for a means of living. A livelihood is sustainable when
it can cope with and recover from stresses and shocks (environmental, economic and
social) and maintain or improve its capabilities and assets both now and in the future,
while not undermining the natural resource base. (Carney, 1998, p. 4). The sustainable
livelihood framework is suitable for this study, the reason being that analyses of
livelihoods using this framework are usually done on entire households. This SLF

honestly done.
This significance of the study will be undertaken to determine the impact of the
pandemic (COVID-19) on the livelihood in Sitio Mabuhay Homes Barangay Pantok and
The Family/Householders
The direct recipient of the output of this research are the family/householders
that suffer from the shortage in providing their daily needs and expenses because of the
lack of job/work that is allowed to operate in this pandemic. Any techniques in creativity
and resourcefulness of others that help them to survive and provide daily needs and
financials in providing daily needs and expenses. It will also lessen people without
income because of some livelihood programs that is able to be done at the comfort of
their home.

This research will be a useful reference for future researchers who plans to

19) in the livelihood of the householders aged 18 – 60 years old to meet their daily
