ABSTRACT

This thesis entitled “Socio- Economic Status: It influence to the Academic Performance”

was intended to find out answers to the following questions: 1.) what is the following

Socio Economic Status of parents in terms of, educational attainment, occupation of the

parent’s family income, financial support? 2.) What is the level of the respondent’s

academic performance? 3.) Is there a significant effect of Socio Economic Status on the

Academic performance of selected Grade 6 students of Suba Elementary School?

The descriptive method of research was utilized with the questionnaire-checklist

as a tool in gathering data. The independent variables were the demographic socio-

economic status in terms of educational attainment, occupation of the parents, family

income and financial support in relation to the dependent variable were level of academic

performance.

Based on the findings and analysis of data shown in the study, Socio-economic

Status in terms of educational attainment, occupation of the parents, family income and

financial support has no significant effect on the academic performance first and second

grading period average of the Grade 6 students in Suba Elementary School.

Therefore, the alternative hypothesis, “The Socio-economic Status had a

significant effect to the Academic performance of Grade 6 students in Suba Elementary

School S.Y 2020-2021” was rejected.

Based on the findings and conclusion drawn, the following were hereby

recommended (1) Since, socio-economic status has no significant effect on the academic

performance parents may remind more their children to finish their study, therefore they

will treasure it and pursue college degrees in the future the parents may give some of

their time to their children even if they have jobs, in able to have a good relationship and

communication to their child. (2) For the teachers, more activities may have in the

classroom in order to encourage the students to be involved in class discussions; the

students may have some jot own notes every time that the teacher have a lessons, for

them to have an instant review when the test and quizzes come. (3) since, the researcher’s

result was no significant, this research may be a guide on conducting a research related to

this. They may also further look for other things in relation to the academic performance.
