The table gives the maximum pull load that may be applied to the smallest rod in a sucker rod string. Chart values assure a steady
slow pull with no jerk or pull that runs into the load. (For use on stuck pumps - all loads given in kN - kiloNewton.)

SUCKER ROD SELECTION GUIDE

Grade D Alloy - This sucker rod is manufactured from AISI A4142 steel. It is designed
primarily for moderate to heavy pumping applications where corrosion is at a minimum or
in conjunction with an effective corrosion inhibition program.

Alloy Special - This sucker rod is manufactured from AISI A4320 specialized steel and is
designed for highly corrosive applications in moderate to heavy pumping applications. It is
highly recommended that a corrosion inhibition program be used in conjunction to
minimize any detriment to the sucker rod string.

High Strength - This sucker rod is manufactured from AISI A4330 steel. It is designed
primarily for heavy to extra heavy loads in both reciprocating and progressive cavity
pumping applications. As well, this rod can be used in corrosive well fluids where a corrosion
inhibition program is present.

Note: Shawcor Oilfield Asset Management specializes in sucker rod inspection /

reconditioning, rod guide manufacturing and new and reconditioned sucker rod sales. For
