ENGINEER’S OBSERVATIONS &

RECOMMENDATIONS

Comments
1. Secondary Beam RF must be fixed into the Primary Beam RF. (Refer Figure 1)
(Although this does not need to be rectified at this floor, this standard practice must be followed in the floors above)
2. All rebar at cantilever ends must be ended with an L bar. (Refer Figure 2)
(It is recommended to place 100/50mm L bars at 400mm c/c as instructed to the technical officer)
3. Column Starter bar must be placed for the Staircase Stub Column
(It is recommended to place 4T12 for the stub column RF at the specified locations with 300mm L bend)
4. All beam shear links must be bent as per the structural typical details provided. (Refer Figure 3)
(It is recommended to bend the top leg as instructed to the technical officer)
5. Separation between 1st and 2nd Layers in bars should not exceed 25mm as per BS8110:1997 (Refer Figure 4)
(It is recommended to lift the second layer bars to the required height)
6. B14 has incorrect shear links. (Refer Figure 5)
(It is recommended replace the links from Grid 2 to 4 at B14 with torsion links as per the structural drawings)
7. Cover blocks used as stools have toppled at the 125mm Thick slabs
(It is recommended to properly tie the stools/blocks to the slab reinforcement at 125mm thick slabs
8. Columns have not been chipped prior to first floor slab construction.
(It is recommended to thoroughly chip the concrete surface until the weak grout layer is removed)
9. B3 have not been isolated from the masonry wall (Figure 6)
(It is recommended to place a 12mm Regifoam® layer at the beam bottom prior to casting.
10. Miscellaneous Observations: Formwork Gaps, Side Cover, Loose Props (Figure 7)
(It is recommended to close the abovementioned gaps, fix cover and tighten the props)
11. Incorrect Slab RF Spacing (2 locations) and T16 T/B bars – Instructions were given to technical officer (Fig 8)
