Assignment 8

1. For a Nike brand of your choosing

Find out everything there is to know about the brand. Logo\sSlogan
Just do  it.
Ambassadors
Bretman Rock is a brand ambassador for Nike's #BeTrue campaign.
Kunal Rajput is now in India. Serena Williams is a tennis player. And
many other well-known athletes who are at the top of their disciplines. If
you could modify one or more of these brand components, which one
would you choose and why? To emphasise that in this passion-driven
environment, everyone is onto something, but to make your work shine
brightly, you need a new take on it, to stand out in a sheep's herd, I would
extend the tagline 'just do it' to 'just do it but differently'.Is there any
aspect of your brand that is unique to your company, or do other
companies employ the same element? The ambassadors are one of the
reasons Nike's products are regarded as the best. Many sports fans may
disagree, but numbers never lie.
2. What is a trademark? Which elements of a brand need to be
trademarked?
Ans: A trademark is a type of intellectual property that consists of a sign,
design, or other expression that aids in the identification of a brand and
the creation of a market image for it. It's sometimes referred to as a
service mark. The following elements can be trademarked: • company
name • product/service name • person name • logos and symbols • tagline
• shapes • label and packaging

What is copyright? Which elements of a brand need to be copyrighted?

A copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives the creator or

owner of the original work the exclusive right to produce copies of it for a
set length of time. • Books are among the elements that can be
copyrighted.

• Musical compositions • Paintings • Sculptures • Films • Commercials •

Technical drawings

How do brands protect their brand name?

One strategy for firms to preserve their brand names is to come up with a
unique and distinct brand name that people in the market can recognise.
Following the creation of a distinct name, the brand could create a
distinct logo that is easily recognisable and distinguishes itself from its
competitors. The brands can then seek trademark and copyright
protection, which will help them defend themselves from being copied
and prevent other businesses from imitating their emblem and deceiving
their customers.
3. Amul - utterly butterly delicious girl, polka dot girl should bear a TM
or Copyright? and what about its tagline - Taste of India should bear a
TM or copyright? Why?

Ans: Amul's polka dot girl would be protected by a trademark because it

is the brand's identity mark and is part of the logo. It's a style of design
that individuals use to distinguish a brand from others on the market.
The brand's tagline would also be protected as a trademark because a
trademark is a form that helps a brand build its own identity in the
market, and the tagline of "Taste of India" especially symbolises Amul in
the market as it helps consumers recognise the brand, therefore it would
be protected as well.
