Week 1
Activity 1 “My Planet”

1. This activity requires students utilize key concepts learned from the lesson to
create their own planet. Encourage students to be creative.
2. Students will create a model to illustrate and explain the features of their planet.
3. A few questions to answer and to include in your presentation:
a. What will be the name of your planet?
b. What will it be made of?
c. Will your planet have a moon/s?
d. How long will it take to orbit the sun?
e. What type of landforms, bodies of water, animals, and vegetation will
there be?
f. Discuss the climate system and weather patterns of your planet.

Week 1
Activity 2 “How Do We Interact”

1. In this activity, the learners will further understand the concept of the Earth systems
and how it works interdependently.

2. Students will identify which systems are interacting in the following scenarios. They
will also explain why they chose those systems.

a. Air quality improve in Manila amidst pandemic

b. The farmer is planting rice in his field.

c. Volcanic eruption has damaged homes in Batangas.

d. Warming climate causes rise in the sea level.

Week 2
Activity 1 Types of Rocks

1. Different types of rocks are found on Earth’s lithosphere: the continental crust is
composed of lighter, thicker, and buoyant granitic rocks while the oceanic
crust is composed of heavier basaltic rocks.

2. In this activity, learners will analyze how several rocks are being formed by natural
processes of the Earth. Below is a list of rocks for analysis. Learners are also
allowed to explore other ideas that they may be interested to work on with the
following rock samples.

a. Basalt

b. Andesite

c. Scoria

d. Breccia

e. Clay

f. Limestone

g. Gneiss

h. Obsidian

3. Learners may use this diagram to show and explain their ideas.

Activity 2 Earth’s Internal Heat

1. Directions. Use the word bank to fill in the gaps in the passage below.

The surface layer of the earth is called the ___________________. This layer is
broken up into pieces called ___________________. These __________________ “float”
on the mantle. Heat rising and falling inside the mantle creates current called
_____________________. The ___________________ current move the __________________.
This movement is known as ___________________. The movement of the earth’s plate
causes earthquakes and ___________________.

2. Heat transfer plays an important role to the continuous changes and

development of Earth. Three processes can transfer heat: conduction,
convection, and radiation. Describe how each process affect the land formation
and temperature on earth.
