TAREA 2: EJERCICIOS CES EDUPACK

Utiliza el software CES Edupack para resolver los siguientes ejercicios:
2.1. A maker of garden furniture is concerned that the competition is stealing part of his market with
furniture made by RTM, a term with which he is unfamiliar. Use the “Search” facility in CES
EduPack to find out what RTM is, and whether it is used to make things like garden furniture.

2.2. Find the best material category with the following relationships:

i. Price vs Tensile Strength

ii. Density vs Flexural Strength
iii. Maximum Service Temperature vs Tensile Strength

2.3. Use a “limit” stage to find materials with a yield strength σ y, greater than 100 MPa and the
density ρ less than 2,000 kg /m 3. List the results

2.4. Add two further constraints to the selection of the previous exercise. Require now that the
material price be less than $ 5/kg and the elongation be greater than 5%.

2.5. Use the CES EduPack level 3 database to explore the strength and modulus of Polypropylene
and its blended, filled and reinforced grades. To do so, open CES EduPack Level 3, apply a
“Tree” stage selecting Polymers – Thermoplastics – Polypropylene (folder).
Make a chart with Young’s modulus E on the x-axis and yield strength σ y on the y-axis.
Label the records on the chart by clicking on them. Explain, as far as you can, the trends you
see.
