Problem/Opportunity Background

Business Opportunity
Currently Melbourne does not have much socializing cafe that is exclusively focused on
socializing for community, entertainment, and art. Our sponsors are eager to support the
opening of a Cafe that features good quality food and creates opportunity youth and adults,
and is an evening venue for conviviality, art, and community building.

Project Scope
Social Cafe is a space which creates a socializing culture and the space we create will allow us
to do more with our lives. The space we acquire has 1000 square feet with all the cooking and
coffee equipments. Fast food, Coffee, sandwich and Chinese food will be serving in the cafe.
Our target audiences are business people, students, job persons, and retired people.Priority
will be given to local supplier and contractors for complete construction and design
requirements. The construction will meet all existing building codes and regulations, be on
time, and within budget. The design and construction of the Café will include:

 Seating place for 75 persons


 Sound system supporting acoustic performance
 Two wheel chair reachable bathrooms
 State of the art Cooking area
 Enclosed kitchen preparation area
 Ambiance that highlights the art, music, and food

Project Objectives
 Provide a best social place of all age groups.
 Continue to promote an environment that supports art and music
 Provide a best quality food in region
 Realize positive, sustainable net income from food operations that balances financial
viability.
 Create a Food Services Master plan that identifies potential future opportunities
 Address Food Services satisfaction within the community, with a commitment to
healthy food choices.
 Explore the potential to significantly increase locally sourced food choices.
Assumption:
 Owner Will Obtain Construction Permit
 Owner/ Sponsor will hire a qualified Contractor
 Completion within given schedule of project
 Owner/ Sponsor will hire a qualified Interior Designer
 Cost of material will not increase more than 10%
 No labor issues or strikes

Constraints:
 The budget contingency is 20%
 Budget is Aus$ 30,000
 Project timeline is limited.
Deliverables & Requirements
Deliverables
The project main deliverable is to meet the entire deluxe requirement and deliver complete
Café with its infrastructures and then later make it operative. The other deliverables are
following.

 Planning of Project
 Assessment of possible Architects and contractors
 Obtaining applicable licenses and permits
 Design & Construction of Cafe
 Commissioning and evaluate performance.

Requirements
The requirements of the project are following.

 Project to be completed on time and service to satisfy the customers.


 Meeting requirements and meeting project schedule objectives.
 Service to compete with others in market.
 Implementation of required project management processes from start
to last.
 Timely and efficient completion of the tasks
