A HEALTHY CHURCH !?!
One of the reasons I accepted the call to be the Interim Associate Minister in this
congregation was that I perceived this to be “a healthy congregation”! Health is NOT a
constant state in our own bodies or in the Body of Christ, the Church. Sometimes we
are injured in an accident or suffer from a disease. Sometimes, health is threatened sim-
ply by aging. Likewise, every congregation goes through “good times and bad times.”
Sometimes we have to go through surgery or a time of healing to become healthy again.
A congregation needs a good immune system that sounds the alarm when congrega-
tional health is threatened. A major task of leadership is to serve as the immune system.
I perceived that this congregation has a good history of highly competent leadership,
including present day. You have demonstrated that in the eight months I’ve been here.
I will complete my work with you at the end of this month, April. I will not work in
May, but will be available during the weeks in June when Owen and his family will be
on vacation.
As I leave, I want to thank the many of you who have shown tremendous hospitality
and generous appreciation for my presence on the staff. Please notice that when I refer
to this congregation, I use the word “we.” That means I very much feel integrated into
this family of faith. That also means that in leaving this family, I take powerful and joy-
ful memories; and high expectations that you will continue in mission/ministry in “good
health,” knowing joy, peace, Light and love of Jesus Christ, present in the Holy Spirit.

Closing Party for Cast and Staff, Wednesday April 13th!
We’ll have our celebration pool party at the YMCA Wednesday night immedi-
ately following the WNF meal. Bring or wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Parents
are needed to help carpool the children to the Y and are welcome to stay and swim. If
you do not stay, please plan to pick up children at the Y no later than 7:30. Children under 7
must be accompanied by an adult.
Lock-In at The Oklahoma Aquarium, May 6th!
FCC will celebrate Christian Family Week with a lock in at the Oklahoma
Aquarium on May 6th and May 7th. Cost is $20 per person and includes dinner,
breakfast, a Dive Show in the Coral Reef, Touch Tanks, educational hands on pro-
gram with animals and bio-facts in the Great Hall, a flashlight tour of the Aquarium,
and Movie Time. Where else can you get a deal like that?!
We will depart from the FCC parking lot on Friday at 5:15pm and will return to the FCC
parking lot Saturday morning, at approximately 9:30am. Please make reservations by submitting
$20 payments no later than Sunday, May 1st. Participants will need to bring a sleeping bag and
pillow, PJs, flashlight, and light toiletries. This is going to be a great way to celebrate family and
friends. Join us for an AMAZING time!
We want this to be an event everyone has the opportunity to attend. If you are un-
able to attend or send your child due to financial circumstances, please know that
scholarships have been provided and are available. Ask Sondra for more details!
Chi Rho and CYF Youth
Jesus Jam, Wednesday April 13th
We will be traveling to Chandler, OK this Wednesday night for Jesus Jam with FCC and Drew
Kirtley. We will be leaving the church following the WNF meal and will return to the church
around 10:00pm.
Be The Body, April 27th
Wednesday, April 27th, FCC youth will be joining with other Stillwater Youth groups at the
SHS fieldhouse for “Be The Body” sponsored by SHS FCA. Watch for details. We’ll attend
this event together as a sign of support for the unity of all Christians.
Atwoods is donating to local churches, April 6th-23rd, 2011. If you shop at Atwoods at this
time, please turn in your receipts to Sondra. 5% of the total will be donated to the FCC youth
group. Original receipts only – no copies. Receipts must be submitted by May 1st to qualify.
