Over 300 goods-carrying trucks stuck at

Paturia-Daulatdia

More than 300 goods-carrying trucks remain stuck at Paturia-Daulatdia
ghat as ferries have been moving slowly due to the strong current in
Padma river today.

The ferries are allowing only commuters, vehicles carrying passengers


and those involved in emergency services on priority basis, our
Manikganj correspondent reports.

Apart from the stranded trucks, 50 long-distance buses, and 30 small


buses were also seen stuck at the ferry ghat.

Drivers and their helpers were facing immense difficulties till this report
was filed around 12:00pm.

Md Zillur Rahman, deputy general manager (commerce) at Aricha zone


office of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said
the pressure of vehicles on the route have increased since yesterday.

Commuters, vehicles with passengers, and vehicles involved in


emergency services are being allowed to board the ferries, he added.

It is taking time to run the ferries due to the current in Padma river and all
should consider the situation, the official added.

Currently, 15 ferries are running between Paturia and Daulatdia.

7th Oxygen Express arrives from India

The seventh Oxygen Express, from India, has reached Bangladesh with
186.29 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen.

The special train set out from India's Tatanagar yesterday and reached
Bangladesh around 9 last night, according to Saiduzzaman, assistant
station master of Benapole Railway Station.

With this, a total of 1,402 tonnes and 290 kg liquid oxygen have been
imported through the special train service.
