Proposed Title:

 Leaders in New Normal: A Qualitative Study of Situational Leadership of Head

Teachers in Candaba West District
 The Lived Experience of Leaders in New Normal: Input for Framework Attaining
School- Level Outcomes

Background:
Theoretical Framework:
The study will be based on developed Situational Leadership Theory of Hersey and

Blanchard (1969). According to Hersey and Blanchard (1977) effective leadership varies, not

only with the person or group that is being influenced, but it also depends on the task, job, or

function that needs to be accomplished. This theory was used as the basis for determining which

type of leadership and strategies are best-suited to the task. The theory highlights primary

leadership styles in terms of the amount of task behaviour and relationship behaviour that the

leader provides to their followers and categorized all leadership styles into four behaviour styles,

which is as follows: Telling; Selling; Participating; and, Delegating.

Research Design:
Parkinson & Drislane, (2011) defined Qualitative research as research using methods such as
participant observation or case studies which result in a narrative, descriptive account of a setting
or practice. Sociologists using these methods typically reject positivism and adopt a form of
interpretive sociology.
