Background:
Theoretical Framework:
The study will be based on developed Situational Leadership Theory of Hersey and
Blanchard (1969). According to Hersey and Blanchard (1977) effective leadership varies, not
only with the person or group that is being influenced, but it also depends on the task, job, or
function that needs to be accomplished. This theory was used as the basis for determining which
type of leadership and strategies are best-suited to the task. The theory highlights primary
leadership styles in terms of the amount of task behaviour and relationship behaviour that the
leader provides to their followers and categorized all leadership styles into four behaviour styles,

Parkinson & Drislane, (2011) defined Qualitative research as research using methods such as
participant observation or case studies which result in a narrative, descriptive account of a setting
or practice. Sociologists using these methods typically reject positivism and adopt a form of
interpretive sociology.
