A nurse is someone who has completed a nursing education program, the
authorities in the country concerned to provide services and are responsible for improving health, prevention of disease and service to patients. Nurses work with doctors and other health care workers to make patients well (not sick) and to keep them fit and healthy. Nurses also help with end-of-life needs and assist other family members with grieving.
Professional nurses have an attitude of involvement with patients, respect,
empathy, sincerity, responsibility, patience, trust and independence. one of the characteristics of professional nurses is being able to behave or behave humanistly towards patients. It is mean that the patient must be treated as a human being who must be cared for, guarded and served with sincerity so that the healing process will be faster. To make a professional nurses, a good education system is needed, which is oriented towards the development of knowledge and the needs of the community. The education system should be able to give birth to professional nurses, who not only have intellectual abilities, but also have the ability in terms of emotional, spiritual and psychomotor (skill). Therefore in the process of nursing education must pay attention to input, process, output or outcome of the education process.
In my opinion, one way to be able to produce professional nurses is to
improve the quality of the teaching and learning process on campus from all the learning materials or methods. Lecturers must be able to transfer to students the essence of the philosophical values of the nurse profession with this knowledge and understanding it is expected to be internalized in nursing students.
There are several characteristics of ideal nurses consisting of several
components, that are cognitive (knowledge), Affective (psychological), psychomotor (skill), spiritual, and Physical. From that information, I think that the ideal nurse must have extensive knowledge, especially those related to the field of health and nursing practice. The ideal nurse acts according to the established rules of knowledge.
Based on the results of research conducted by (Agung, 2012) at the
University of Riau against a number of 7th semester nursing students regarding ideal nurse characteristics, mentioning that emotional factors can describe the ideal characteristics of nurses, there are there are five characteristics that can affect the emotional of nurses, that are friendly, patient, disciplined, kind, and humble. So, I think that the ideal nurses must have good emotional management.
Psychomotor (skill) is something that is absolutely necessary in nursing
services. Skills are not only related to nurses 'competency standards (hard skills), but also the ability to understand nurses' psychological conditions (soft skills). In my opinion, a nurse who has good ethics, has courtesy in performing nursing, will certainly receive respect from his patients. If this condition can be maintained it will benefit both parties (nurses and patients). Spirituality is all forms of behavior and guidance that direct humans to always be with God. One source of spirituality is Religion. Religion teaches humans how to interact with God, humans and the environment. In the Indonesian context, the role of religion is very important especially in interacting with other people. Likewise in service to patients. So, nurses must have adequate religious understanding to assist in the implementation of nursing tasks. Very often religious advice helps patients deal with their illness.
The last characteristics of ideal professional nurses is phisic, this is
important because nurses are related to service to patients. If nurses look unattractive, or dirty and less neat, it will certainly cause distrust of nurses. This has an impact on the quality of service, especially patient comfort. Even patients may not want to be served by nurses who do not pay attention to their physical appearance.
In general the ideal nurse construction is more to the psychological
aspects or soft skills Ideal nurses according to the nursing student perspective consist of several aspects or components, namely cognitive, emotional, skill, physical and spirituality. The five components have important contributions and are interrelated with each other. That is, every component must exist in an ideal nurse. References
