or smarts. Read the chart and answer the questions that follow.

EIGHT INTELLIGENCES OR SMARTS

Linguistic
Sensitivity of language, meanings and the relations among words. Found in novelist, poet,
copywriter, scriptwriter, editor, magazine writer, reporter, public relations director and
speechwriter.

Musical
Sensitivity to pitch, rhythm, timbre, and the emotional power and complex organization of music.
Found in performer, composer, conductor, musical audience, recording engineer and maker of musical
instrument.

Logical Mathematical
Abstract thought, precision, counting, organization, and logical structure. Found in
mathematician, scientist, engineer, animal tracker, police investigator and lawyer.

Spatial
Keen observation, visual thinking, mental images, metaphor, essence of the whole, gestalt.
Found in architect, painter, sculptor, navigator, chess player, theoretical physicist and battlefield
commander.

Bodily-Kinesthetic
Control of one’s body and objects, timing trained responses that functions like reflexes. Found
in dancer, athlete, actor, inventor, mime, surgeon, karate teacher and the mechanically gifted.

Interpersonal
Sensitivity to others, ability to read the intentions and desires of others and
potentially to influence them. Found in politician, religious leader, counselor, shaman, salesman,
manager and the “people” person.

Intrapersonal
Self-knowledge, sensitivity to one’s own values, purpose, feelings; a developed sense
of self. Found in novelist, counselor, wise elder, philosopher, guru, and person with deep
sense of self.

Naturalist
Drives one’s fascination with the immense variety of the world’s animal and plant
species and the talent to assign them to new or established taxa; the ability to seek patterns in
the world around us. Found in biologist, botanist, entomologist, horticulturist and
environmentalist.
