Books and Writers From Nagaland - Nagaland GK
Nagaland is a small state in the North Eastern part of India with English as its State’s official
language but diverse local dialects. Some writers from the State have attained accolade and
recognition in the field of literature in English both at National and International level.
In this post, we shall see Books and Authors of Nagaland and also books written on the Nagas by
others.
Easterine Kire is a poet, novelist, and writer of children’s books from Nagaland. She has a Ph.D in
English literature from the University of Pune. In 2011 she was awarded the Governor’s medal for
excellence in Naga literature. Her poetry and books have been translated to German, Croatian, Uzbek,
Norwegian and Nepali.

In 2011, Easterine Kire was awarded the Governor’s Medal for excellence in Naga literature.
She was awarded the “Free Voice Award” by Catalan PEN Barcelona in 2013.
Winner of The Hindu Literary Prize in 2015.
Awarded Bal Sahitya Puraskar by Sahitya Akademy in 2018.
Monalisa Changkija ( Tiamerenla Monalisa Changkija) is a journalist and poet from Nagaland. She is
the founding editor and publisher of the English newspaper Nagaland Page. She was a member of
the Working Group on Women’s Empowerment in the Indian National Planning Commission.
