Daily Progress Report

Dated 03-08-2020
Overview:
Visited the power plant site and followed the operation and maintenance
activities performed during the day.

Operation Activities:
The complex was operating with a combination of 2+1 minimum load in the
morning.
 Last night GT-1 start command was received but GT tripped on alarm
‘exciter not ready to start’.
 GT-1 is now in forced outage mode.
 GT-2 was in operation.
 GT-3 was in operation.
 ST was in operation.
Maintenance Activities:
During the day, visited the plant site area and closely observed the maintenance
activities performed by different departments. The maintenance activities
attended are listed below:

Instrument Air Compressor A:

Water leakage from dead water filter of instrument air compressor A was
observed by the operation department. Mechanical maintenance team today
attended the activity and found the head gaskets damaged. New head gaskets
were installed and filter was installed back but later it was observed that water is
leaking from the outer body of the filter. The body of filter was swapped with
service air compressor’s water filter body.
CCCW Pump A:
Mechanical maintenance team today performed the scheduled 3 monthly
inspection of CCCW pump A of GT-1. The alignment of the shaft was performed
using the dial indicator and grease refilling was also done.
Pressure Gauge:
The glass and front cover of the pressure gauge of CCCW pump B of GT-1 was
broken. I&C maintenance team today replaced the glass of pressure gauge with
another glass and now the gauge is safe in rainy conditions also.
HP and LP Feed Water Pumps:
Mechanical maintenance team today performed the scheduled preventive
maintenance checks of HP and LP feed water pumps. During the activity, the
bearing temperatures and Axial, Y axis and X axis vibrations were measured from
the measuring meters and all the parameters were normal.
Soot Blowers:
Mechanical maintenance today also performed the scheduled preventive
maintenance checks of HRSG2 and HRSG3 soot blowers. Bearing temperatures
and vibrations were measure and all the parameters were found normal.
Sponge Ball Cleaning System:
Operation department took the sponge ball cleaning system in service today for
the cleaning of condenser water box tubes and brass wall for continuous 2 hours.
The collecting time of balls in the collector was also set at 2 hours and then the
balls collected were counted.
52G GCB:
Due to tripping of GT-1 last night on exciter fault at FSNL speed, electrical
maintenance team started the diagnosing process to trace the fault and found
that pole B of GCB had moisture and it was the reason of GT trip. Today electrical
team isolated the pole B and then heated the pole B by using the heaters. After
that, pole B was de-isolated and the sealing of top cover was done.
