CHAPTER 5:

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT TUTORIAL


(BEGINNERS LEVEL 1)

 STARTING POWERPOINT
You can start by clicking the application or search it
 PINNING TO FIND EASY
Pinning your presentation will make it go to the top to easily find your recently
working document.
 CHOOSING A TEMPLATE
There are a lot of templates to choose from.
 TABS,RIBBON AND LAUNCH BUTTON
Just like the MSWord , MSPowerPoint has also its Tab button, and each tab has a
different ribbon and can be broken down into groups. Launch button under group
buttons will give even more information to do some more customization.
 TELL ME
You can just type in the command what you are looking for.
 ADDING TEXT IN THE TITLE SLIDE
Click the “Add Title” to enter the title of the document you are working on.
 INSERTING NEW SLIDES
The little slides on the left side of the screen shows your miniature where it
show the sequence of the slides of your document. While the main slide on the
center shows the slide you are currently editing.
HOW TO ADD SLIDE: Go to the left hand side of the screen, then right click and
choose new slide. But also under HOME tab or INSERT tab, click the “New Slide”
button to add slide.
There are also different types of slide , depends on the document you are
working on. Click the “New Slide” button and click it’s launch button to see more
types of slides(example; Comparison)
 INSERT TEXT BOX
Click the INSERT TAB then click text box to insert text box to your slide.
 MOVING TEXT BOX
Click the text for the text box to appear. Then click the edges to drag it around
or click the rotate button to tilt it to a different angle.
 PRESENTING YOUR POWERPOINT
Click the SLIDESHOW tab. You can choose here on how you present your
PowerPoint, whether From Beginning, From Current Slide, etc. Clicking to the right
will present your next slide while clicking to the left will go back to your previous
slide. Click the ESC on your keyboard if you want to exit presenting your slides and go
back to editing mode.
 RECORDER SLIDES
If you want to change the order of your slides, click or highlight the slide the
drag it to the order you want. To delete slides, click the slide then press Backspace
on your keyboard. You can also other things on your slides by right clicking the item
selected, like Cut, Copy, Paste, Duplicate, etc.
 ADD A QUICK DESIGN
Click the DESIGN tab to show the different designs to choose from.
 MAKE YOUR FONTS LOOK GREAT
Highlight your text by clicking three times on the line to highlight the entire line.
After selecting, choose the font based on your preference.
NOTE: Double Click (selects a single word): TRIPLE CLICK (selects the entire line)
 CUSTOMIZING YOUR BACKGROUND IN THE POWERPOINT
In applying background to your PowerPoint, you can apply different for each
slide or can apply it to all. Type “background” on the Tell Me bar to format your
background. You can also right click on the slide then click the “Format Background”
on the launch button.
You can customize you background by applying different colors and by adjusting
it into your own preference. You can also use fill or images as your background. To
add am image as your background, click file to select pictures from your file or you
can search through online.
 TEXT OPTIONS
Can format your font by clicking the TEXT FILL button. Here you can Add Fill,
Solid Fill, Gradient Fill or can even add picture inside the font.
 INSERTING WORDART
WordArt is another way of editing and creating a nice-looking font. Click INSERT
tab and select Word Art. Here you can select different options to format your text.
 INSERT IMAGES IN POWERPOINT
Click INSERT tab and select Pictures (you can upload from your computer or
through online).
 FORMATTING IMAGES
After inserting the image, it shows very large and may fit to the screen. To resize
it, grab the corner of the image and drag it to the size you want, and drag it to the
place you want to put it. You can also enhance your pictures by clicking the image,
then select the Format tab, here you can adjust it by using the options provided. You
can also change the order of the layered images whether from front, behind, etc.
 REMOVE BACKGROUND IN AN IMAGE
Click the Image then click the Remove Background Button. If the Object you
want to keep is not perfectly selected you can click the “Mark as to keep” button and
trace the image.
 ADDING ANIMATIONS TO IMAGES
Click or highlight the text or object you want to add an animation, then proceed
to Animation tab. Here you can choose a variety of animations you want to apply.
You can also change the direction of the Animation where the text or object comes
from. You can also change the order of animations.
 ADDING SLIDE TRANSITIONS
Click the TRANSITION tab to select the transition you want to apply. You can
apply different transitions to different slides or apply a single one to all.
 SAVING YOUR POWERPOINT
Click SAVE button (This PC or OneDrive)
