ACTIVITY 5 “CONNECT THE SPHERES: EARTH SYSTEM INTERACTION”

PLACE OBSERVATION
1. TAAL LAKE There is a small volcanic island in the middle of the lake which has
been the site of almost all the historic volcanic activity. Taal Lake has
an earth’s subsystem; the Atmosphere, Geosphere, Biosphere and
Hydrosphere. The Taal Lake belongs to the Geosphere, it releases a
large amount of particulate matter in the Atmosphere when it erupts.
When it rains which is part of the Hydrosphere, it increases the
eruption and stimulates the plants to grow. And also, the Taal Lake is
surrounded by water which is part of Hydrosphere
2. MT. PULAG Mt. Pulag is the highest peak in Luzon and is the second highest
mountain in the Philippines and also it is covered with the grass and
dwarf bamboo plants. It is also a dormant volcano and it is full of
numerous species of plant life, which is serves as habitation for some
animals. The subsystem that are involved in Mt. Pulag are
Geosphere and Biosphere. But since, it is a dormant volcano
there’s a possibility it could erupt in the future, which then can affect the
Atmosphere.
3. OCEAN PARK Ocean Park is a man-made oceanarium which helps presents the
beauty of the ocean to urban areas.The subsystem of Ocean Park are
Hydrosphere and Biosphere. It interacts with each other to
sustain the lives of fishes because fishes need water in order for them
to live.

4. MONFORT BAT My observation of Manfort Bat Cave is the fruit bats of Geoffroy clinging
CAVE, SAMAL to the walls and ceiling of the rousette fruit bats of the Geoffroy cave
ISLAND feed on fruit and nectar. Manfort Bat cave has a complete subsystem
because that place is the type of Geosphere which is the result of the
natural phenomena. The process of them is complete subsystem, first
is Geosphere that can for cave then the second one is the
Atmosphere getting in other land or part of the ocean. The third one
is Hydrosphere coming from cloud and the last one is Biosphere
which can live a bat over there or other living things in water.
