Proposal to find a suitable computer for Mr. & Mrs. Cervantes

I propose to gather information and help Mr. & Mrs. Cervantes find a suitable computer for their
home. They have had the same computer for five years now and are in need of a new one due to
insufficient disk space on their computer. Their current computer has become extremely slow
and often times nonresponsive. I will be conducting an interview and doing internet research to
find the best suitable computer for them.

Current Problem

Mr. and Mrs. Cervantes do not know which computer they should purchase. There are a lot of
many different options and they seem to be a bit overwhelmed. They know what functions they
want their computer to have. They are looking for a computer that will be fast, have a good size
hard drive, sufficient memory, and one that will also last a couple of years. Their computer will
be used by the entire family, which consists of two college students and one who is in
elementary. The computer needs to support Microsoft Word, and other key programs that will be
used frequently. The computer will also be used for entertainment purposes. They would also
like to buy the computer from a company that offers good support, and warranties. Mr. & Mrs.
Cervantes have set a budget of $1,500, but are willing to be flexible in order to get the “best”
suitable computer.

Research Methods

I will be interviewing Mr. Trejo, I will be receiving help which will aid me in helping Mr. &
Mrs. Cervantes in purchasing a home computer. Mr. Trejo has been employed at Best Buy for
five years now. He is a computer technician and I think he will be able to provide a great insight
and help guide Mr. & Mrs. Cervantes in the right direction in purchasing a computer that meets
their needs, wants, and budget.

I will also be using the internet as a research method. After I conduct my interview with Mr.
Trejo, I am hoping he will steer me towards a certain brand or specific product. By using the
internet I will be able to look at reviews and/or surveys from customers and users. It will also
help me find different locations where the product (the computer), can be purchased. This will
help with comparing prices. After my research is completed, I am hoping I will have a computer
well suited for the Cervantes family.
