This document announces a biophysics school on integrated machine learning and molecular dynamics simulations to understand biological systems. The school will be held from September 21 to October 1, 2021 at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania and will introduce participants to concepts of machine learning and molecular dynamics and how they can be coupled to provide insights into molecular interactions and biological machinery. Topics will include QM/MM molecular dynamics, free energies, machine learning, numerical methods, and biophysics. Limited funding is available and female applicants are encouraged to apply with a deadline of August 15, 2021.

Understanding Biological Systems & Cell Machinery 21 Sept – 1 Oct, 2021 University of Dodoma (UDOM), Dodoma, Tanzania. Directors Understanding the chemical interactions and molecular D.M. Shadrack (SJUT, Tanzania) machinery of biological systems is an important step towards S.A.H. Vuai (UDOM, Tanzania) designing bio-inspired materials. However, understanding H.S. Swai (NM-AIST, Tanzania) specific and nonspecific interactions in nature at the molecular scale are limited. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations provide Organizers a means to study biophysical systems with atomistic details. M.G. Sahini (UDOM, Tanzania) Machine learning (ML) on other hand, provide a means to I. Onoka (UDOM, Tanzania) synthesize meaningful insights from the deluge of high- G. Deogratias (UDSM, Tanzania) dimensional data generated by MD. In this school participants will be introduced to the concept and ideas of ML and MD and Speakers/Lecturers how the two can be coupled to yield insights on the molecular E. Menkah (Ghana) interactions towards designing drug. A.A. Hassanali (ICTP, Italy) D.M. Shadrack (SJUT, Tanzania) TOPICS: S.S. Nyandoro (UDSM, QM/MM Molecular dynamics, Free energies, Tanzania) Machine Learning, Numerical methods, A. Laio (SISSA, Italy) Nanoscience, Biophysics, Data Sciences. H.S. Swai (NM-AIST, Tanzania) C.
