Geng Jun ( also named Shidgjun in Buddhism) , barn in
Mengzhou Clty of Henan Province, November Is a Bud-
dhigt disciple of the 3ist generetion, the 7th section of Chinese
Wu shu, national *Shijia” Wu shu coach, Vice Secretary Genere!
of China Sheolin Wu shu Research Socisty, standing committee
member of 10th Political Consuttetive Conferences of Jieozuo City,
invited General Kungfu Coach of special police of Jinan Military
sisirict, visiting professer of Luoyang Normal University, and
Goard Chairman of Vingeai Education Group. In 1888, he esteb-
lished Mengzhou Shaolin Wu shu Inetitute; in 2001, he estab—
lished Yingcai Bilingual School. He has been sucesssively
ewerded honorable titles of "Excellent Youth News Celebrity of
Henan Province’, "State Excellent Wu shu Edueationalisi”, etc.
In 1983, he learned Wu shu from Suxi Rabbi, the Abbot of
Shaslin Temple, and Grandmaster Sufa, a famous Wu shu monk,
and became the last disciple of the Grandmaster. Then resom—
manded by Grandmaster Sula, he learned Wu shu from masiere
such as Li Zhanyuan, great master of mantis boxing, and Yu
Xlanhua whe epeclalizes in Jinge jong. He won the Sheelin
Wu shu champion for 6 times in China Zhengzhou Interngtional
Wu shu Festival, National Competition of Wu lin Elites, Netionel
Wu shu Performance Conference, etc., and one "Demo Trophy”
thet symbolizes the highest honor of Shaolin Wu shu in Chinses
Traditional Wu shu Suecinct Competition. 38 volumes teaching
¥CD of Shaolin Traditional Wu shu hes been published end is—
susd by People’s Sports Audio Visuel Publishing House. He has
led delegations to visit overseas for many times, enjoying high
reputation in the martial art circle of the world.
Mengzhou Shaolin Wu shu Insitute, established by him, has
developed into the largest enclosed type bosrding school of
Yubei (north of Henen Province) area, which takes knowledge
as primary and Wu shu as distinctiveness, also one of China's
fop ten Wu shu education beses.

Basic
Usual stances in Shaolin Wushu are: bow stance, hores
since, crouch stance, empty stances, rest stance, cress —
legged sitting, T-stencs, feet-together siance, seven—ster
alance, kneel stance, high emply sianoe, end tess —reising
stance, these twelve kinds.
Bow stance: commonly named fow-end-errow stancs.
Two fest stand in tandem, the cislanca between two feet is
about four or five times of length of one’s foot; the front leg,
bende ta the extent of the thigh nearly herizontal with toes
slightly tumed imvard by less than 5°; the back leg stretches
straight with the sole qumed Inward by 45°. (Figure 1)
Horse stance: commenly named riding step. two feet
stand apart, the distance between two feat is 3~3.5 times of
fength of one’s foot, with tiptoes tumed forward; bend kness
fo squet downward, with thighs nearly horizontal, knees and
two tiptess in line. (Aigure 2)
Grouch stance: commonly named single split. Bend ths
knes of one leg and squat entirely with thigh very closs to
lower leg and knee outspread slightly; straighten the other
leg and crouch horizontally close to floor, keep the anis
turned inward and forming an included engle of S0°with iow-
er leg. (Figure 3)
Empty stance: also named cold —chicken stance, Two
iset stand in tandem, the distance between iwo feel is 2
times of length of one’s foot; transfer the barycenter to back
leg, bend the knee of the back leg and squat downward to
tha extent of the thigh neerty horizontal, with the sole turned
outward by 45°; keep the tiptae of from leg on the ground,
with distance between two knees of 10cm. (Figure 4}Rest stance: erees the two legs af tei and right, keap
them clase ane entirely squat; keep the whole sale of the
fest on the ground with tiptoes turned outwend, the front
sole of the beck fest on the ground, and buttocks slightly

Croas—legged sitting: im the posture of reat stance, sti

T=stance: two legs stand with feet together, bend knees
and squat to the extent of the thighs nearly horizontal, with
eng tiptes on the ground and clase to inner side of the fos-

Feet-together slence: two legs stand with feet together,
bend knese and squat to the exient of the thigh nearly heri-
tal. (Figure 8)
Seven-slar stance: Seven—star step Is a unique siep
2 in Shaolin Seven—star Boxing and Major Flood Boxing.

High empty atance: also named high point stances. Two

sg on the ground, end the distance between two tipioes is
length of ona feet. (Figure 11)
Toss -raising stance: also named seven-star slancs in
Seven-sier Mantis Bord Two legs stend in tendem, and
the distances between two legs Is 1.5 tines of length of

Basic hand forme
Usual hand forme in Shaolin Wushu are: fist, palm and
hook, these three kinds.
Fist: classified Into straight fist and heart penetrating
fist.
Flat fist: a rather commen fist form in Wushu, also
named square fist. Hold the four fingers tightly towerd the
gaim, and horizontally oenc the thumb to button up the fore
finger. (Figure 13)
Heart-penetrating fist: malnly used for eiriking the hear
pert. Put four fingers together and coll-hold them, the middie
finger thrusts oul the striking surface of the fist, the thum&
butions up and presses the end and joint of the middle
finger. (Figure 14)
Palm: classified into willow leaf palm, splay palm, tiger's
claw palm, eagle’s claw palm, fingers clamping paim.
Willow leaf palm: paim with four fingers up and thumb
tumed inward. (Figure 15)
Eight-shape palm: palm with four fingers up and thumb
soley. (Figure 16)
Tiger's claw palm: palm with five fingers apart, beni as
hook and like tiger’s claw. (Figure 17)
Eagle’s claw palm: also named three locking hand, wilh
the thumb tumed imvard, the fittle finger and) mid¢le finger
tumed onto paim, fore finger and middie finger eperl and
fumed Inward. (Figure 18)
Fingers clamp palm: palm with five fingers aperi andpain drawn in. (Figure 18)
Hoek: classified into heok hand and mantis hook,
Hoak hand: bend the wrist, five fingers drewn in neiturellly
with fingertips tagether. This heok is used in wide range, the
haek mentioned in Wushu refers to thie. (Figure 20)

Yanging boxing, as one of excellent routines of traditional
Shaolin Wushu, wes originated at the end of Tang Dynasty,
and developed by Lu Junyl et Shaolin Temple in Song Dy-
neety. Lu Junyl taught this bexing skill to Yanging, his eppren-
ties. Then Yanging taught it oroedly, thus, it was named Yan-
ging boxing. This routine consists of 53 postures. lis actions

and enough foree exert, emphasizing the skills of the waist
