JUSTIFICATION
Acute pain due to abdominal
hysterectomy, it is associated
with more pain, more blood
loss, longer hospital stay, and
longer recovery period than
the minimally invasive
alternatives: laparoscopic and
vaginal hysterectomy. You
may feel a kind of burning
pain at the site of abdominal
skin incision, this pain is
worse when you get out of
bed or change in position. You
may feel pain in tissues deep
beneath the skin.
The client’s problem is second
priority because it will
minimize susceptibility to
infection.
The patient ultimate
susceptibility to infection is
influenced by factors inherent
to the host, factors related to
treatment, and factors
associated with the malignant
process. The most serious
type of infection after
hysterectomy is vaginal cuff
infection. The cuff, created
from the vaginal vault when
the uterus is removed, is
virtually always contaminated
with the vaginal flora and
highly susceptible to post-
operative infection. Vaginal
cuff are more frequent after
vaginal hysterectomy, but can
also occur after abdominal
hysterectomy.
According to Abraham
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,
the problem is fall under self
esteem which is on fourth
priority. This problem is not

Removing the uterus with the
cervix through the abdomen
is called atotal abdominal
hysterectomy,  or TAH. Having
an abdominal hysterectomy
and the recovery time after
hysterectomy are significant
events in any woman's life.
Since an abdominal
hysterectomy is an in-patient
surgical procedure, you
should plan on being away
from home and work during
the surgery and perhaps
during the beginning recovery
time after hysterectomy. The
length of the hospital stay
depends on what type of
hysterectomy you have, how
your surgery goes and what
your doctor recommends.
