Two factor authentications

- Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your ID designed to


ensure that you're the only person who can access your account, even if someone
knows your password .
- If you set up two-factor authentication, you will be asked a code either by a
text or authentication app (based on your selection) whenever you or someone
else try to open your account.

1.Facebook
To turn on two-factor authentication:

i. Go to your Security and Login Settings.

ii. Scroll down to Use two-factor authentication and click Edit.


You can chose 2 options
1. Text message (SMS)
2. Authentication app

Some others backup methods are:


 Approving your login attempt from a device we recognize.
Notification will be popup to verify either it was you or not.

 Using one of your recovery codes.

You can pre download 10 recovery codes which will be one time use codes
and once all are used new codes will be generated.

 Tapping your security key on a compatible device.

1. Two Factor Authentication with Text Message (SMS)

Enter mobile number where you are supposed to get code and click continue.
- If phone number you proided is valid then you will receive a text with 6
digits code,enter that code and click on continue.

- If not received click on resend code or try to enter valid phone number and
try again.

After entering the code two factor authentication will be On


2. Google
a. 2-Step Verification is adding an extra layer of security to keep your account
safe. Most people only have one player – their password – to protect their
account. With 2-Step Verification, you will protect your account with both
your password and your phone.

b. Signing in to your account will work a little differently


i. You will enter your password whenever you sign in to Google, you
will enter your password as usual
ii. You will be asked for something else. Then, a code will be sent to you
phone via text, voice call, or our mobile app. Or, if you have a security
key, you can insert it into your computer’s USB port.
c. During sign-in, you can choose not to use 2-step Verification again on that
computer. From then on, that computer will only ask for your password when
you sign in.

To Turn on 2 factor authentication:


i. Open gmail.
ii. Click on manage accounts

iii. Click on Security

Iv. Click on get started


V. Enter your phone number and choose how to get code either phone call or text
message and click on next.

Vi. If your phone number is valid then you will get a verification code ,enter that code
and click on next.

Backup codes
These printable one-time passcodes allow you to sign in when away from your phone, like when
you’re traveling.

for Android and iPhone.

Security Key
A security key is a verification method that allows you to securely sign in. These can be built in to
your phone, use Bluetooth, or plug directly into your computer’s USB port.

2 Authentication apps
Authentication apps can be used in facebook as well
as in google.process are same for both verification.In the
app you will get the code 24/7 which keeps refreshing every
15 seconds.
Follow following steps:
I. Download app from playstore.

Ii. Open app and click on get started

Iii. Open 2 factor authenication in setting in your account and you will find out
authentication app there click on setup.

Iv. After

clicking on setup you will get QR code so open


mobile and click on scan QR code and scan the QR
