 Community Service Report
We accomplished a range of community ser-
vice goals in this pandemic year, October 1,
2020 to September 30, 2021.
We started the Kiwanis year last October
by donating school supplies to the middle
schools in our community for Kiwanis One
Day of service.
We donated food items to 11 families for
Thanksgiving with the help of First Chris-
tian Church. We rang the bell for Salvation
Army at Kroger in December.
We provided snacks to nursing and janitori-
al staff at Satilla Rehab, during Random
Acts of Kindness Week, where John Con-
ger was a patient.
We organized a Shoe Drive to assist GHC
Hospice Foundation with its fundraiser. We
donated bags, books, toiletries and more to
children going into foster care and donated
school supplies to Center Elementary, one
of our BUG (Bring Up Grades) schools.
We read to children online in collaboration
with our public library and participated in
Poetry Month.
We ended the Kiwanis year in September
by donating unsold clothing items from our
Yard Sale Fundraiser to the Magnolia
House; shelter for women and children.

Online Friday Meetings
Allie Dixon was our guest speaker on
September 24th in her capacity as
Board member at OATH - The Okefe-
nokee Alliance for The Homeless. We
learned about a transitional house; 4
bedrooms, 3 bathrooms; for women and
their children needing temporary ac-
commodation for up to 90 days.
Renovation of the house, donated by
River of Life Church, should be com-
pleted by January 1, 2022. How can
our Kiwanis club help? The plan is to
join our resources with Rotary Club of
Waycross to help furnish at least one
room in the house as part of our Cele-
brate Community Initiative.
