Reflection: I have learned that each country’s musical instruments and even some songs are somewhat
like each other due to their history of trading and migration.
PERFORMS MUSIC FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA WITH OWN ACCOMPANIMENT

Activity 1:

1. Pinpeat is one of the largest musical ensembles found in Southeast Asia. The musicians play
their musical instruments using soft padded mallets, sticks, beater, and blowing. Gamelan music
ensemble is one of the great musical traditions of the world. The tradition is strongest in Bali
and Java. The musicians use their percussive instruments during rituals. Both are considered a
percussion instrument. Technically speaking, it is played by two soft mallet drumsticks. They
have the same rudiments, melodic in nature but their notations would differ depending on the
repertoire they use.

2. The orchestra Pinpeat consists of approximately nine or ten instruments. In Gamelan ensemble
there are forty instrumental players with eight musical instruments.

3. Pinpeat musical instruments are made of wood and metal. Gamelan ensemble are made of
metal and wood.

Reflection:

1. I learned that the countries of Southeast Asia have similarities in terms of instrumental
accompaniment.
2. I enjoy the activity on performance with the use of improvised musical instruments and
incorporate body movements.
3. I find interesting in their musical instruments.

2. Folk dances are important because they preserve the Philippine culture and pass it on to the
next generation. They are a uniting force to the Philippine people.

in our lives than simply providing amusement
5. Spirituality is a broad concept with room for many perspectives. In general, it includes a sense of
connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in
life.

one way to the other.
