DANCE ANALYSIS QUESTIONS: Itik-Itik


1. Describe the dance in term of the form.
The Itik-Itik dance showed a logical sequence of simple dance steps which made the dance
show unity and consistency. The form also progressed from the beginning to the end of the
choreography.

2. Describe the dance in terms of the motif.


The dance shows that it has motif. It contained simple movements that conveyed its meaning
or intention to the audience. The dance used a motif where the movements are repeated and
varied. In the Itik-Itik dance, the motif is identified as it portrays the movements of a duckling.

3. What are the directions used in the dance?


There were different directions used in the dance which are forward, backward, leftward,
rightward, and circular.

4. What are the prominent steps used in the dance?


The prominent steps used in the dance are running, cross step, slide close, slide close step,
heel, close-ball, close arm, step, slide-close, slide, arms extension, and flapping of the arms.

5. What are the dance characteristics applied in the performance?


The dance characteristics that were applied in the performance include unity, continuity and
development, variety and contrast, transition, repetition, and climax.

6. Describe the dance characteristics applied in the dance performance.


The dance performance showed unity where the phrases of the dance flow smoothly together.
It also has continuity and development because the phrases of the dance are organized which
helped make each movement phrase move naturally into the next. There is also a continuous
development of the movement phrase. The Itik-Itik dance also showed variety and contrast
since there are several variations that highlights the motif and there is also a new material that
is different from anything seen in the dance. Next, the transitions made the logical progression
flow smoothly. Moreover, there is repetition within the choreography which showed the main
message of the dance. And lastly, the dance include climax which is the apex of energy in the
dance is reached.
