Adverbs of place (Прилози за место)

-tell us where an action happens

-give us information on movement, direction and distance

Eg. Let’s go and play outside.

1. Here/There-relate to the speaker (at the end of the sentence)

I put my keys there.

Please come here.

Here are your keys. (for emphasize we put them at the beginning of a sentence)

There is your umbrella.

2. Adverbs of movement/direction

- end in ward(s) -express movement in a particular direction

Backwards

Forwards

Eastwards

We drove eastwards.

The children looked upwards at the stars.

3.Adverbs can also express movement and location

The rock rolled downhill.

He is going abroad.

The child went indoors.

4. Adverbs everywhere/nowhere/anywhere/somewhere- describe location that is unspecific/indefinite.

-We are going nowhere.

-I looked everywhere for my keys.


5. Adverbs can be also prepositions (outside)

We were waiting outside.-adverb (it stands alone)

We were waiting outside his office. (preposition goes with a noun)
