Matibag Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions

STEM – 122 Week 3

Lesson: Contemporary Art Forms in the Philippines

❏Written Work
Activity 1: Do a short research about the contemporary art forms in a certain
region in the country. Your research should cover the following:

1. Contemporary art forms found in the region that are unique and their examples.
The contemporary art form that I noticed in our region is the coffee painting by
Clarisse Pastor – Medina. All of her pieces tells a story of nostalgia of being a Filipino,
and of course, of being a Batanguena. Some of her paintings are “Biak” and “Two
Daydreams”.

2. What makes the contemporary arts in the region unique by describing its
elements and principles?
The contemporary art in our region is unique because of the things used to mak this
artwork. Just like what I said in the first number, Clarisse Pastor – Medina uses coffee to
paint some artworks.

❏Performance Task
Two Sides of a Coin
❏Reflection
Reflect and Analyze
According to Gat Jose Rizal, “Ang Kabataan ay Pag-asa ng Bayan”. How will you
encourage your fellow students to make a difference in spite of this “new normal” we are
facing. What form of contemporary art will you use as a medium? Explain your answer.

Given that Gat Jose Rizal is rooting for the youths of our country, I think I can help
my fellow students to make a difference in spite the new normal, by encouraging them to
express their thought in an artwork. The form of the contemporary art that I will use is
visual painting since and I will depict many scenarios in our country.
