The table provides the figures of a survey on the consumption of mobile

phones during the six years, from 2006 to 2012.

Generally, the number of Ericson and Motorola mobile phones sold
decreased dramatically, while Samsung and Apple saw an opposite trend in their
sales; and Nokia purchase did not show any significant differences over the
period.
In 2006, the most prevalent phone brand was Nokia, approximately three
times more than that of Samsung, 117 million units. Although in the early years of
the period Samsung was a loss in sales compared to Nokia, but Samsung seemed to
gain substantial popularity, becoming the top brand of mobile phone at the point of
396.5 at the end of the period. In comparison, Ericson and Motorola
simultaneously showed a dramatic fall, from 74 and 210 respectively to 28 over six
years. Apple joined the mobile phones market one year later than the others with
starting point of 2.3. After five years, however, the brand witnessed a ceiling trend
to increase nearly 60 times (135.8) in 2012.
Overall, Sales of Samsung and Apple tend to improve strongly compared to
the stability of Nokia and the decline of Motorola and Ericsson.
