CHAPTERWISE GUIDELINE OF

“HEAD AND NECK”


IMPORTANT PONTS
• Head n neck is the difficult one and most
important topic of 2nd Year MBBS. Do it firstly
and revise it again and again.
• It is most Important portion for OSPE
• Must do all Norma, Blood Supply, Nerve Supply
of all structures.
• First 13 chapters are MUST DO Chapters. You
can do only blood nerve supply from remaining.
But better not skip anything, at least grab
concept from remaining things also.
• Plus for Osteology, do watch videos of Viren
Karya and for quick revision, Selfless Medicose.
Chapter 1: Osteology
• INTRODUCTION:
Reids base line and frankfurt’s plane,
Paired and unpaired Bones, (v.imp)
• NORMA VERTICALIS:
Ant. and post. fontanelle and their closing
times, Importance of fontanelles, Sutures
(Names and Bones involved),
• NORMA LATERALIS:
Boundaries of suprameatal triangle ((its
importance also), Pterion with clinical imp

the Norma Basilis)

Lambda, Lambdoid Suture, Nuchal lines,
External Occipital Protuberance, Mastoid
foramen, Asterion, Parietal foramen
• MANDIBLE:
Mental Foramen, Mandibular Foramen,
Mylohyoid Groove, Mylohyoid Line, Genial
Tubercles, Digastric Fossa, Submandibular
Fossa
• CERVICAL VERTEBRA:
Must do their Identification, General
Features, especially Features of Atypical
Vertebra. Points regarding their Body,
Transverse process, Foramen
Transversarium, Spine of each Vertebra.

Chapter 2: Scalp, Temple and Face

• SCALP:
Extent and structure is just learn (Not imp),
Arterial venous and nerve supply is very
important along with their diagrams
• FACE:
Names of Facial Muscles, Modiolus, Nerve
Supply of face Motor and Sensory (with
diagram), Bell's Palsy very important
Facial Artery very important, Dangerous
area of face Very Important
Eyelids (Only Read carefully), Lacrimal
Apparatus Very Important with its
secretomotor supply

Chapter 3: Side of Neck

• Deep Cervical Fascia with all its layers

Chapter 4: Anterior Triangle of Neck
