Library Resource Guidelines

Physical Resources: (PRINT COLLECTIONS):

VIT Vellore campus members can browse and search the library holdings/collections.

 Please visit library home page www.vit.ac.in under campus life and select "Web-OPAC”
(Online Public Access Catalogue) access both on and off campuses. Login ID is your
registration number and the password also is the same, after login members are advised
to change your password with alpha, numeric, character, and symbol.
 For faculty members or staff the login ID is “Employee ID”.
 Members can renew online (one time) their borrowed books.
 Members can recommend their book title through the online book recommendation
form which is available in our VTOP portal.

Digital Resources: E-Journals, Online Databases and E-Books

ONLINE LIBRARY ACCESS Guidelines

ONLINE LIBRARY: (Digital / Online/Electronic Resources subscribed/purchased by Central

Library).

No need to register individually in our e-gateway portal.

1. Members can access and download the content from both on-campus and off-campus
through a single sign option (only access through student VIT e-mail).
2. Before you browse and search, please go through the digital fair access policy.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Check your VIT e-mail inbox,” Welcome” e-mail received

from RemoteXs platform/egateway portal
2. And click the first web link and set your own password with alpha, numeric, character,
and symbol.
 3. Before that, read the e-mail carefully.
4. All Members are informed to activate their accounts individually, not from the Library
end.

ONLINE LIBRARY ACCESSING PROCEDURE:

Visit the library home page under campus life in www.vit.ac.in and request to read the library
home page information to know more about your library.

 Select and click the "E-Resources" web-link and it will redirect you to the e-gateway
Portal.
 or directly type in your browser https://egateway.vit.ac.in/
 Login ID is your VIT e-mail ID and password is your own password

 At the top of the screen, Single Search Window i.e. (Knowledge Discovery Service Tool)
is available. If you search through this window, it will give the top 10 results of all Library
subscribed/purchased digital/electronic resources.
 Before that, please refer to the resource user guide: Online databases/E-Journals and e-
book publishers-wise user guides are available on the portal for member’s reference
with downloading facility.

 Members can browse, search and download the content as per the individual limit
permitted per day (Excess download is not permitted- refer to the download policy).
