Reflective Essay
During completing my presentation video of this course, I find it quite difficult as
English is not my native language and I struggle a lot especially when it comes to
speaking. But, I Thank god to my family, the lecturer as well as my fellow friend who
have been helping me in every expect in finishing this task. Throughout the course, I
could be able to practice using English in my workplace. Thus, the tasks that being given
also helped me to improve my confidence in speaking English in the workplace. After
taking this course, I have seen my level in speaking English and I could find a way to
improve myself. In this report, I will share more the whole proses in making my video
report presentation.
First of all, I was planning for my stage that I made to make sure when recoding
started, everything will went smoothly. When I first start reading the question, I tried to
understand the situation that given so that I can perform the presentation correctly. It was
quite hard for me to prepare in the planning stage as everything need to be in English.
Not only that, I also looked up for random English video presentation and some of them
cannot hide their nervousness. Meanwhile, it pressured me more as I know speaking in
English is not my strength and I usually be able to control my be able to control my
nervousness and can talk confidently but it was kind of hard as I need to present in
English. In that case, to make sure I could talk in English without looking too awkward.
In the end, I tried to speak in English in the workplace for some time before recoding my
video presentation. I thought by using English in the workplace would help me improve
myself in pronouncing words and building more confidence in speaking
Therefore, the planning time period for the presentation took quite long time as I
was very busy at my workplace due to covid-19 at my hometown and my workplace in
Miri, Sarawak. During the recoding of the video, I faced few difficulties where there are

some distractions. The first distraction was my nervousness. I was very nervous as there
was thought crossed inside my mind saying I could not do well in presentations. During
my presentation I was quite challenging as I was fighting with myself and I keep shaking
and forgetting what I wanted to say but even my pronunciation sounds very strange due
to the pressure that I felt. I even tried to play with my facial expression and use body
language to show that I am confident in delivering the report but turned out I showed
poor eye contact and poor body language. I tried to calm myself and keep the positive
thoughts in my mind and I also kept convincing myself that I can control my
nervousness. In keeping positive thoughts during that time, really helped me finish my
recording and I also managed to say all I wanted to say about the topic that I chose.
Though my overall expression did show my nervousness but I feel better as I manage to
control until I finish my recording.
As a conclusion, I have learned a lot of English language that is very important
and we need to practice more so that our English can be improved. Not only in class,
using English to communicate in the workplace should be practice more. As the overall,
but there are still imperfection in my speaking skills but I believed I could practice more
and gains more confidence to speak a better in English.
