YLD INTRODUCTION
What is Youth Leaders for Disarmament?

Youth Leaders for Disarmament is an educational program on disarmament and

leadership for Vietnamese students. In 2021, due to the ongoing pandemic, the program
will be held online via Zoom. Sponsored by the United Nations Office on Disarmament
(UNODA), we aim to connect young Vietnamese people interested in applying
international relations and economics to peace maintenance and disarmament.

Organized by UN Youth for Disarmament Initiative and Wars' Aftermath Initiative

(WAI), the program expects speakers from the United Nations, Vietnam Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, and prominent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the field of
disarmament / dealing with post-war consequences (clearing landmines, Agent Orange,
etc.) Through Youth Leaders for Disarmament, trainees will gain insight into the
diplomatic process, how the UN and NGOs work, disarmament issues and the SDGs.
Additionally, all profits from the program will be donated to WAI's fund for ordnance
removal.
